They're quite good, but require some practices to use them properly. Also upgrade them into level 5-6 ones. Experiment with combinations with minions or dragons.
Balloons are trash till level 5 and 6
What trophy range are you? Up in masters it's mostly balloons and hogs. I'm currently pushing and I'm using 20 loons with 6 in my clan castle and 60 minions. I'm in masters 2. They work well if you know what you're doing.
For every great unit, an even greater strategy is required
Balloons are good, but they get really good at level 4-5-6
pairing them up with other troops as well also helps when you attack with them :D

Ok, so I guess they are too low right now based on what you guys are telling me.

favourite army combo for me.
I use either 24 loons 50 minions and minions and dragons in cc or
20 loons 60 minions and 6 loons in cc
I recommend that you upgrade loons, they're great (:

I play 28 balloons and 14 barbs and 26 archers. 2 heal 1 rage. very useful

I farm with Balloons and Minions in Crystal 1 and Masters 3, of course they are good.
