Dragons for Clan Wars
I'm planning to use Dragons (level 3) for Clan Wars, and a bit confused if I should take Rage (5) or Lightning (lvl5, for taking out a single air defense) as my spell. Also, how many dragons (200 army) and which land-based troops other than a Giant to lure out CC troops must I have.
-
I take all dragons (10) and 3 rage. I also have a dragon in my CC. No need to lure CC troops. They actually help pull dragons to the center where the TH is most of the time. Use rage when dragons get close to the air defenses.

I would go for rage spells, not only do they increase the damage dragons do, but also their speed. I would go with 9 dragons, ragespells (maybe even 1 healing spell when ur dragons are grouped up....) and some barbs archers and wizzards for killing the CC troops. But tbh i hate using dragons for clanwars. The costs are higher then u will earn back and dragons seldom give u 3 stars. Most of the time u are better off with Hogs

Take a heal spell with you. If the enemies clan castle is filled with wizards, and your dragons clutch together, you don't want them to be wiped out instantly. That's very rare though. Other than that, use rage spells when getting close to AD.
Scout the base you wanna attack. Some bases have their air defenses very vulnerable at the sides behind only one layer of walls. For these kind of bases it might be worth replacing 1-2 dragons with hogs or to have hogs in your clan castle to destroy the ADs which are reachable.
Hogs and heal spells are optional. 100% dragon with only rage spells work fine too, but my suggested army tweaks can certainly make a difference.

I usually mix it up, but always go all dragon.
As a TH8 I went with 10 dragons in my camps and one in my clan castle along with 5 random archers. My spells were either 3 rage spells or 3 lightnings to take out the high air defense if I was going that route.
I typically drop a dragon on the corner of each side i want to attack, let them clear one to two buildings (they work fast, only takes about 15 seconds). I then drop in my dragons almost in a line between them. They then get funneled into the center of the base vs going off on their little tangents. Rage spells when they run into buildings with large HP near air defenses (ie storages) and let the dragons do the damage. I don't bother luring out clan castles when I go with an all dragon army, if anything I will throw a rage spell out when I get too close or if it is a strong castle. Dragons take care of most clan castles quickly.
As a th9 with 4 spells now I carry 3 rage and 1 healing spell. Seems to work pretty well for me right now. Wish I didn't have to be th10 to get level 4 dragons :(

Definitely run full dragons. You don't need to necessarily lure out the CC troops as usually the dragons just steam roll whatever's in there. Also, I find that rage spells are more conducive due to being able to affect more than just dropping 3 lightning spells to take out just one air defense.

If 2 out of 3 AD's are not centralized I take:
- 8 or 9 dragons, 10 or 20 minions, and 3 lightning
- 3 lightnings to remove the hardest to reach AD
- minions + BK to clear some outside buildings and allow dragons quicker route to remaining 2 ADs
If 2 out of 3 or all AD's are centralized I take:
- 10 dragons + 3 rage
DO NOT lure CC troops before the attack...CC troops help dragon attacks because they draw them deeper into the base.
-
I always use 2 rage, 1 heal with mass drags - its handy to have a heal on hand for that AD that can reach you before you can reach it.

Don't get overconfident. You still need to pick a dragon friendly base if you want a three star. They require much more planning/base selection than using hogs. Post a pic of the base you are thinking of attacking.

at th7 & 8 dragons 3 star just fine if it's a good base choice. Personally I like to bring 20 minions and deploy them as defenses become exposed there high attack and speed work well for this, tho vs th10 infernos make them a liability
