[Optimus] TH7 Transformer Base

Wanted more protection for my dark elixir, so I made my own farming version of this:

I tried this base. And this base was awesome! Just got raided by a bunch of level 5 hogs. And the spring traps just threw them away. Hahah. I'm happy with this base so far. I'm just new with TH7 btw. And still upgrading my defenses.

Hey guys, after the testing for V3 Optimus I have decided to put the design under a new name- Trion! Please check out that design here.

As V3 Optimus was meant to be a variant of the original Optimus, it eventually evolved into a whole new design! Big thanks to the testers over at the testing thread for Trion.

This post concludes any more updates and bumps to the Optimus. Big thanks for the 16K views! Of course I will still be available to give feedback to users of the Optimus. But for now, I'm focusing my attention on updating, fixing and giving feedback on the Trion thread.

introduction
introducing the optimus- a th7 transformer base that can adapt to your needs! Farming, hybrid and additional modifications are included to suit to your requirements. showcase

farming mode

tested for several weeks a the 900-1400 typical farming range. Attackers rarely got more than one storage, holding back aggressive armies. Elixir in farming showcase is the primary resource and secondary for gold, switch to your preference.

hybrid mode

hybrid mode updated with new design with improved compartments which no longer needed one to two wall breakers to access core with ease. Dark elixir storage may also be switched with the barbarian king when low on dark elixir. Can only protect one primary resource.

the mortars can be switched with the air defenses if you don't get regularly attacked by flying troops and teslas with giant bombs. Dark elixir storage can also be switched with barbarian king when low on dark elixir. the wizard towers can also be switched with the mortar/dark elixir storage.
This modification is recommended over the original version.

He has also been using this for clan wars where he is yet to be three starred yet. The defenses logs for his base can be seen at the defense logs section.

here is virgilwashere's hybrid version of the optimus. The base was rotated 90 degrees to test for any possible effect. Similar to zweisocki's version, traps have also been used better than the original version.
His defense logs have been promising- primary resource is well protected.

features

centralized clan castle- makes it harder for attackers to lure out troops and prevents troops from being lured into a corner
unlurable barbarian king- depending on preference, can turn the tide of a raid as the barbarian king acts as a vacuum which distracts troops momentarily and allows troops to group up to give splash damaging defenses time to destroy troops.
mortars- well covered, equal triangular form to get maximum coverage and prevent attackers from taking out more than one mortar at a time due to the mortars blind spot.
wizard towers- well covered, bilateral and covers two storages each for maximum resource protection and to make quick work of goblins.
air defense- well protected semi-covered bilateral to prevent mass air or giant-healer raids.
archer towers, cannons and hidden teslas- spread out, even distribution for maximum unbiased protection
equilateral storage placement- hard for attackers to get both primary or secondary resource storages.
dark elixir- depending on user's preferences, it can be well protected or semi-protected.
segmentation- each compartment is sectioned and once breached, attackers will proceed to the core, which they must get through splash damaging defenses before reaching other compartments (assuming that the attacker chooses to only attack one compartment).
staggered junctions and anti-wall breaker mechanics- wall breakers can't open more than two compartments due to only t-junctions present and minimize splash damage. Extended arms of the east and west compartment prevents wall breakers from reaching the core, attackers need a minimum of 4 level four wall breakers (assuming your attacker is a th7).
symmetry- no biased or uneven side to attack, allowing full protection and no weaknesses at any side an attacker chooses to attack.
funneling- funnelling allows giants and other meat-shields to be sprung off instead of slowly picking them off. Giant bomb placement guarantees to blow up any goblin and barbarian swarms that manage to reach the primary resource. Giants breaching the secondary resource compartment will be sprung and any surviving giants get past a layer of walls until reaching the next target.
mines and collectors- evenly spread out to make goblin swarms run in an arc while being picked off by point defenses.
core- the tough splash damaging barrier which prevents attackers from reaching both primary or secondary resources at once. The optimal choice would be to attack from both defenses, effectively engaging all defenses at once and halving the enemy attack force. Clan castle acts as a intersection meat shield which holds off attackers temporarily having high hit-points.
storages- well spread out and no biased sides to attack, hard for attackers to reach both storages of the primary and secondary resource (for farming mode only).
hidden design- the fact that this design is relatively unknown unlike other popular base designs means that attackers will not have seen this base before and will not have a pre-formulated strategy to attack the base.

pros

• vulnerable but highly separated storages
  
  
• ​vacuum clan castle troops, with a maximum of 900dps from troops
  
• symmetric-round layout discourages attacks from coming from specific directions
  
• well defended air defenses to discourage usage of dragons, minions, balloons and healers in common armies
  
• storages are viable against popular farming armies such as barch/bam/bag
  
• staggered t-junctions to render attackers from opening more than two compartments at a time
  
• funnels lead troops to outer compartments and splits troops into different directions
  
• giant bomb and air bomb placement to effectively eliminate swarms of barbarians, archers, goblins and minions

cons

• large core means when giants reach that part with a heal or rage spell core defenses can be easily crushed and allows a higher possibility of attackers reaching both storages
  
• rather vulnerable dark elixir storage means less protection for a valuable resource
  
• barbarian king can be lurable which means the hero can not act as a vacuum when troops hit the core of the base
  
• vulnerable to jump spells
  
• rather bad trap placement means less traps used to their maximum efficiency

disclaimer: Defense logs only represent the v1 farming design and not the v2 design.

most raiders only managed to take down one storage, others chose to attack the collectors (100-150k). An example of the amount of loot available in collectors is shown by juanpablo from revolutions who used barch on the base. Raiders who two-starred the base usually took both storages (note the strength and aggressiveness of the armies used).

new design kills this problem. In hybrid mode the town hall has its own compartment and does not compromise the clan castle's ability to be unlurable.


new design compartmentizes these large segments to control mass swarm armies such as barch or bam. Air mines are strategically placed to destroy minion hordes.


honestly, no th7 base can stand a half-decent all dragon attack. Your best hope would be to switch the mortars with the air defense, and hope that they start their attack from the south side of the base.


new design has fixed this problem. More staggered walls and junctions means more wall breakers needed to open up compartments.


the base structure doesn't allow full coverage of the storages but it is indeed equilateral. Nonetheless, there is a minimum of two splash damaging buildings protecting each primary storage.


the storages are deep enough into the base so that barch can not touch the storages- if they do, the giant bomb will quickly take care of them. The exception for this rule is jump spells which th7s should rarely face.

1600 should be okay, just don't try going past 1700 because that's where the late TH8/early TH9s go. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi Dokugan, another nice base from you and more to come I think. I had been using your Trion which was really good. After switching to Optimus I felt that the gold storages were very exposed in hybrid mode. All that needs to be done is that 1 gold storage should be switched with the barb king and giant bombs should be switched with the teslas. Gold becomes much safer and harder to get for the attackers when this is done.:cool:

Thanks for the nice feedback! I do agree the gold is rather exposed though this base is not designed to protect two resources, I will add this into the OP. Thanks once again :)

Firstly, great design. I just got a GoWiWiPe attack by a TH 10 which only managed to 2 star this base. So Doku, Hats off!:cool:

Not really. Clockwork6 is the closest thing to a TH6 version of the Optimus :p

Pushing a bit before upgrading to TH 8, so I decided to use Virgilwashere's hybrid version of this base. Just switched over and I'm currently at Gold 3, I'll let you know how it goes! Awesome design.

So after about 2 days I've only been attacked once and have gone from like 1400-1700 trophies and have been attacked twice, one person dropping trophies and a TH8 Barch 53% just from taking out most of the outside stuff. Looking good so far!

Nice. I suggest you switch to Pantheon at 1900+ though, lots of three stars :p

Hey Dokugan, I want to try this base out for Wars. Zie.. in the first page did a farming modification where he opened walls (I think the funneling is very good in that base) , did he ever show you his war version of that base? I want to try it but don't know if it is better than my mod version of The mantis. Any suggestion for a good war base?

Unfortunately he never did :p I suggest you stick with the Mantis- although common and well known, it is more optimized for trophies.

Thanks for posting my version. Just want to say this base has really worked well for me from my early Th7 to Mid-late TH7 I am now using the Trion since I will be holding a lot of loot while my TH upgrades to TH8. Lets see how it holds up. Thanks for the great bases Doku, now to see how Nautilius works when I get to TH8

Hi, i yesterday i got to th7 and i changed my base to optimus.. in the night I defended 5 times, and I earned 125 trophies with only th6 defenses and lvl1 teslas! THX!

Currently rocking this base; just swapped the top elixir pump inside the walls with the sweeper pointing directly inward also surrounded with airmines (assuming most air troop attackers will prefer to attack from behind the sweeper), and also replaced the protected gold mine with DE drill.

Apparently this base has had a resurgence in popularity from personal experience nexting through bases in-game. Glad to see it being used even after a year after the original thread :)
