TH8: 4 Storages or 6 ??

One of the best defenses in the game, imo, is spread out storages. The more storages you max out the harder it will be for a higher level th to take all of your loot without 3 starring you.

I'm afraid, its not the way it works. The loot cap per storage is 98 K if the storage has more than 1M resources. If you have 2 storages maxed and full of resources, only 200k will be available to the attacker as available loot without having the loot penalty calculated.

The loot cap for a base is not based on the TH level and its based on the number of storages you have. The loot penalty is a different thing.

I have two Level 11 storages of gold and a level 1 storage of gold. I got raided yesterday with over 2.6M in gold, so the storages met the loot cap. The guy got one storage and received over 150k loot. I think there isn't a cap per storage based upon my own experience.

No. Supercell explains the current loot system here. According to them, the loot cap is based on your TH level, not your number of storages, and there is no more reliable source on the topic.

Here are the advantages of 6 storages over 4:
1) The loot is spread out. Even if someone gets to 1 of your gold storages, they will only be able to get 1/3rd of the total possible loot as opposed to half.
2) You can spread them out. This means a person will have to destroy almost your entire base to get all of the loot your base has to offer. This is much harder to do than say destroy 2 gold storages in the center.

Disadvantages of 6 storages over 4:
1) You need to defend more storages. This means the the defenses/storage go down making it more likely that any one storage will be destroyed.
2)You can't keep storages in the center anymore. Lets face it, keeping 6 storages in the center is idiotic. 4 storages in the center are fine. but 6 storages take too much space.

Decide for yourself. I would go with 6 storages.
