I got 2-starred already today while using the Roundhouse 2 v.1
Attacking army mainly consists of lvl5 giants, wizards, and wallbreakers, spells were rage and heal.
The CC is in the middle so the TH got sniped by wizards after the outer layers were destroyed
Anyway, my defenses arent maxed yet, im a middle-tier TH8

I've been using this as my war base the entire time I've been an th8 and I war constantly and I'm almost done with th8 now. I have been 3-starred once by mass dragons, and two starred only 3 times. I find it's not hard for attackers to get 1 star on me, but typically my base doesn't get attacked at all.
Ground attacks typically go one of two ways:
1) Giants and support troops all get released on the bottom left, run in a circle and eventually die. Attacker picks off enough buildings on the outside to get 1 star.
2) Giants/support troops get released on the bottom left in two stages. One to break the anti-hog ring, and the second to punch through to my TH. This typically gets them two stars.
Air attacks... they almost always come at me from the bottom with mass drags. To be honest, it seems kind of random whether they will 1, 2, or 3 star. It seems to depend more on the dragon's sometimes unpredictable AI than anything done by the user, including spell placement. My one 3 star was by level 2 dragons coming from the bottom, but I also had a 1-star by level 3 dragons employing an almost identical attack.

still using version 2 variation 1 and i believe i can now say that this base is VERY susceptible to Giants + wallbreakers
after being attacked by armies with giants multiples times, the funneling doesn't work and the giants just run straight to the nearest tower, tanking all hits, with WB's blowing my walls, take note, that i have around 50% skulls and im around 60% complete in my TH8 journey. Max AD's, max mortars, max WT's, lvl 9 AT's, lvl 9 cannons, and i get 2-starred by TH7 armies with lvl 4 giants (WHUT?!).
Anyway, on the good side of things, this base is very resistant to mass drags and hogs
im switching to another base layout this weekend.

IMPORTANT: BETA v3.1 is out! I corrected the traps issue and fixed the walls. Due to the structure of the base i recommend it as a Clan war only base. But you can try it for pushing at your own risk

Just switched to this base. I'm at G2 now. Gonna try this base out and depending on results I might use it as CW Base. Will post defense logs once I get some.

I used this base for around 5 Clan wars and i got 3-starred 2x by lvl 3 dragons, i have max AD (lvl 6)

I employed this base, and have had great results so far. 11 level 3 dragons and a barb king attacked me. He employed two rage spells and a heal. I was one starred, and the drags only took out an ad and a mortar, barely touched the core. One drag hit the th, but the remaining two ads double teamed it. 78% on me, but core held solid. I'll have more to come.
Great result, only attack on me in this war so far. Must've intimidated them! ^_^

The looks very vulnerable for balloon. The can attack the outside defence because the range of the AA is not that big. Then the hoggs wil make it finish.
There really is nothing this base can do about HoLoWiWi, just hope for the best and that they attack from the sides are south

That is a very nice version! How many times have I thought of putting the army camp inside as a shield yet never implemented. This is the first base design of all kinds that I have seen one coincide with my thought. I would like to test it in one of my TH8 account in war. persenally, I think the two ADs on the right of TH should have more shield. Mass dragon might simply get in from that position. Not sure if the mas dragon can take out the townhall and the last AD on the left though. I will have a feedback after war
I like this base. I would say i am quite an accomplished attacker as a TH8.. getting 6 stars most of the wars..
Looking at the base.. i would say i would have a hard time attacking this base because i think it would be hard to hog. there is a hog ring. The double giant bombs i could trigger it either by watching replays OR by trial and error. but i will eventually lose most of hogs to the mandatory spring traps since hogs will be running around in circles.
HOLOWI would do this base best IMO. but not many people knows how to use HOLOwiwi yet. as far as i have seen in our war match ups.
Mass dragon would be hard to funnel and require some elements of luck.

I'm still using version 2 of the base since it has done so well. Before now I've only been 3-starred by a couple mass drag attacks, and I normally get skipped over for attack. But... I just got three starred by hogs. I got a kick out of an anti-hog base getting hogged. Still, it does very well.

I'm tempted, but I still have much love for version 2. I hardly ever get hogged in war, and that attack broke the anti-hog ring. Not sure what anti-hog base will hold up after that happens. More often it's dragons that attack me, and this is a typical result:

Considering your name I thought there would be somewhat more of a discussion on this vs dragons but only a couple of posts it seems about that.
I see where it can be good vs dragons but it is so compact, I would think the usual 11 dragons plus 3xrage 5 would tear through half the base easily and then possibly get lucky with 3star.
And what u think about switching mortars and the wiz towards? Just wondering, not criticizing.... still learning here.

Version 2 is my clans most successful TH8. I used it when i was TH8 and have passed it on to another who continues to have success. It does seem more compact than other anti drags but it seems to have a knack at sloughing off the drags to the sides.
Only time I was 3'd using it was a TH9 swinging down cause the 8's couldnt break it...it still killed all his drags(TH still up) but was crippled enough for his Royals to finish off the rest. The person using it now had a TH9 using lvl 4 hogs get 42% and last war best attack on him (again TH9 cause the 8's fail) was 80% two star with drags.

Ok so yes, 2 of the most important factors in anti-dragon is storages in front of missiles and then somehow pushing the dragons off to the sides. I think the second is much harder to accomplish against any experienced dragon user who knows how to clear the outside with his BK and early 1-2 dragons. Then I usually rage in 2 groups of about 3-4 to the missiles when they get there and then I release 1-2 more saved dragons from stock/cc which are now guaranteed to ride the cleared highway to the middle to help reinforce the end of the death of the missiles.
I guess in that way the key is to heavily penalize the early clearing of the fluff and then also have the storages in the right place.
Would you still like some testers for the v3.1? If so I think I could help as I'm an almost completely maxed th8.
I've used this base for 9 wars. 2 non attacks, 3 one stars, and 4 two stars. When people realize they can break the ring with a bk, then hog, they get 2. Cheapest attack on me so far was giants, 1 healer, then they raged their bk into the core behind some wizards. Great base for th8 though.
Could you please explain the philosophy of the walls at 1, 2, 6 and 10~12 o'clock? What's the function of them? To me they look like normal walls that have been broken by wall breakers.

I have seen my clanmates get smashed countless times, and I have myself destroyed this base many many times already. From my experience, anti-dragon bases have to have :
- Somewhat exposed and spread out air defenses protected by storages
- Archer towers compact in range
- Teslas in range
Dragons can easily destroy a core with 3 AD's just by popping one rage down. However, if you spread out your air defenses that will not happen. Plus, even if the dragons do wipe out the AD's your teslas and archer towers are still in range to back them up. Exposed AD's also help to kill 2-3 dragons while clearing trash outside, ( eg ; 1st layer - collectors, 2nd layer - storages - 3rd layer air defense ) yes, the AD may get wiped out early, but since they are spread out, not all of them will be wiped at once. With the support of teslas and AT's, 10 dragons will not be enough ( + 2 air mines ).
In conclusion, a spread out base does not necessarily prevent a 3 star. However, I believe that dragons can 3 star any TH8 despite how good it's design is in the hands of a skilled attacker.

I'm not quite too sure what happened here, never even seen this army composition before.
Version 3 is getting smashed by dragons in our clan wars. We had another member try it out for a war who is midway through th8 and it was an easy defeat. Sorry, I meant to record it, and completely forgot the maintenance would wipe out all the replays.
I don't think we'll be using v3 much longer to be honest. I'm still using v2, as are a few others, and I guess I'll do a redesign taking the new mortar into consideration.
Can you make a new base since there are 4 mortars for th8?
I actually punched the new mortar into the bottom in place of the lab. I put the two skeleton traps on either side to preserve traps along the ring. Will see how it goes
I have been using this since I got th8, mass dragon 3 from east failed, giant healer failed, weak gowipe failed, usually 1 or 2 stars. Previous war drags 3 from east got 89% 1 star, th9 12 hogs 4, 8 witch 2, 2 wb4, 4 dragon 4, AQ 1, BK 5, 5 arch, 2 rage 5, 2 heal 4, 1 freeze 2. attack from bottom east. fail 49%. next attack 65% 1 star 3 raqe 4, hogs in cc attack from east. We lost that war.
This war drag 3, 1 heal 4, 2 rage, bk7, drag 3 & archers in cc. Attacked from North, 1 drag on North East corner than rest dead center. Rolled base easily.
I have wiz tower 5,5,6 /mortar 6,6,6,4 /cannons 8 & 1 9 /arch 8 & 1 9/ tesla 3,3,4 / airbomb 3, airmine 1, airdef 5,5,5
Still decent but experienced raiders roll this base. I'll keep it till I'm maxed my defenses and see how it does. V3.1
I use the oski in farming but it gets rolled by giant wizard and once by barch level 6 w/ aq11 bk14 & rage spells.
Gonna pick a different farming base.

First time in this thread, trying The Roundhouse as my cw layout for first time (v4.0) will post results.
Upgrades: Newish to Mid so that will be a negative factor, although I have x161 lvl 8 walls. :cool:
One thing that worries me is cc troops maaaaaybe being lured at top right wiz tower, the deploy range is just slightly flirting with the edge of the tower, but that's what testing is for afterall.

Must admit that this Is the type of base I go after with dragons and rage spells to get to the clustered centre air defence. My defences except teslas and archer towers are maxed so lets see how it holds up. The cc will be full of archers and a witch so having this unlureable should stop any ground attack.

I'm using it as my war base and my regular and will post the results. One concern about using it for my regular base is goblins getting into that resource ring. Looks like there may be a few wall segments that could be re-purposed to compartmentalize it, but I'll leave it as is for now for testing.
no.. just barches for de- i just started to use this base for war, so I will get some nice defenses.
My defenses r under-leveled
teslas=3
wizard towers=5
archer towers=9
tiny bombs= lvl 4
walls=7... just starting walls with free elixir
So far I have been attacked twice this war. We lost the replays overnight but I can give you an idea of troop composition. This is a 20 person war and I am #10.
First attack was a TH8 with a mixture of giants, dragons and wizards. I wouldn't call this a real test as they got a 35% no stars
Second attack was a TH10 with the same basic mixture. I have no idea why their #3 would use this. 61% 2 stars. They made it to the centre. I believe there was a pekka thrown into the mix in this attack.
Hopefully I'll get attacked again. Still have 5 hours to go.
My defenses are AD - 6, mortar - 6, WT - 6, cannon - 10, archer - 9, tesla - 4, walls mostly 7

the one thing that concerns me about roundhouse is that it looks like the AD's are too close in proximity. If drags get in they can rage/heal and destroy them quickly. Maybe put them out a bit?
I'm about to try it this war in 5 hours. I am maxed except for walls and teslas so I hope it works fine. Sending screenshot if it goes well :D

I had a few thoughts
1) SOmeone mentioned raged/Heal Drags in core would wipe out all three AD so what if you moved the mortars and AD around some to spread the AD out
2) HoLoWiWi....would totaly wreck this what about placing either
a) a Wizard tower in core and a mortar out side
b) moving one of the mortars and placing teslas in core
c) Placing sets of 2 Air Bombs by 2 of the wizard towers (or a bit in front of them actually) and placing both Air Seeking Mines near the AD

Obviously no TH8 can be completely anti hog/drag but this looks amazing
Here is my experience last clan war:
Attacked 2 times. 1st time was with Giant/wiz/archer/barb. He was way below my level so not sure why he thought he could do much. He managed 24% mainly from sniping buildings out of range of my towers before my CC units could to them.
2nd attack was 67% 2 star. GoWiPe - lvl 1 PEKKA and Golem. Pics below:

I was happy with how this did in my last CW. I'm a fresh th8, so still catching up my new towers, but I stopped a GI/Wiz attack at 40% and he had no hope of going far. I did get 3 starred by dragons, not sure if that's the base or the under-levelled 3rd AD. I'll see how it performs next time around as my buildings catch up.
Im using this right now war starts in 1hr (assuming servers come back online :p)
I'll let you know how it does. I did move the AD around just slightly for coverage and i switched up the traps just to keep people guessing where they are :)
