Im sorry if this idea is already ruled out, but i think since you can buy extra builders with gems you should be able to buy extra slots in your research lab to upgrade multiple things at a time with around the same amount of gems. I think this would just make some things a lot more convenient because i always end up with 6 million elixir and nothing to spend it on... Then i could have my balloons and giants upgrading at the same time

You can already use gems to finish your existing upgrade to free up the lab. they won't add this as it would cannibalize people's usage of gems (which is more expensive and better for SC) to finish existing troop upgrades in the lab.
