(Guide) Usage of gems & how to use them effectively!

Hi guys!
So this is a guide about gem usage! This will help you choose in what to spend gems! Lets start!

How to get gems!
Gems are the premiun currency in CoC. Most of them are from in-game purchses, which are somewhat expensive, but there are some ways to get free gems! These are:

• Removing obstacles (0-6 gems each) or gem box (25 gems)
• Completing achievments (10-2000 gems depending on what achievment)
• Being one of the top 10 players in the top 3 clans (300-1000 depending on place, only at the end of season)
• Winning a contest!

However, these ways of obtaining gems are very limited, and the best way to get gems is by purchasing.

Using gems!
Gems have a lot of uses, and almost all of them are time related! Lets have a look and review each use of gems!

• Buying builders hut: this is the most popular way of spending gems, and they help a lot!
• Buying resources: probably one of the worst ways to spend gems! Resources are expensive to buy with gems! (300 gold/elixir= 1 gem) The more you buy, the less gems it cost.
• Skip the upgrade time: this may be helpful for those impatient guys. It is useful on important things, like spell factory. (3 minutes= 1 gem) More time= Less gems.
• Boosting mines: For 5-11 gems (Depending on the level) mines and pumps will generate X2 resources for 24 hours! Not so efficient, but better than buying resources!
• Boosting barracks/spell factory/heroes: After builder huts, this is the best usage on gems! For 10 gems, your building will produce X4 times faster the troops/spells/heroes! Very cheap and very used!

So these are all good usages! But the question is still there, What is the best efficient way to use gems? The answer is below!

Conclusion and best usages!
So, in conclusion, lets say i have 4 builder huts and i buy 6500 gems. They are a lot of gems! The best way to spend them is buying the 5th builder hut. Now i have 4500. How to spend those? The answer is easy! Boosting barracks! It is very profitable, when farming or pushing! Lets say that in a week i spend 1000 gems boosting. I have left 3500 and with my hare earned exilir i upgraded my spell factory, but surprise!, your clan is entering a trophy Push and you need spells to attack, and my spell factory is upgrading and there are 5 days left. Dont fear losing 750 gems if you have 3500! Skip the upgrade and you will be good for the push! However dont use this when upgrading a not so neccesary building!

What I do with my gems is, I use them wisely and I save them for when I trophy push to Champions league :o

IMO...
1. Get all 5 builders huts, or 4 if you're not very active. Before you have 4, don't spend a single gem on anything else. After your fourth, if you're not gonna get the fifth (you either don't play much or won't buy gems) then just do the things below in no particular order
- Boost your DE Drill if you have it, and/or Gold Mines. This is very helpful.
- Boosting barracks is efficient, but I use BAM which is already ready in about a minute after my raid finishes so spending gems to boost barracks is a COMPLETE waste for me. If you're a very active player and are training heavier troops (Giants, Wiz, Dragons) go ahead and boost them.
- And on the occasion you need to finish construction/lab upgrade because you want to start one before you leave/blow some loot, spend gems to finish an upgrade.
NEVER, I repeat, NEVER buy gold or elixir from the store. Boosting mines/pumps gets you more than 4x the amount of loot for the same cost in gems.

I agree with you in everything, except Boosting DE drill! Very expensive! :eek:
