I see ppl with 30K+ DE and they are also TH8! How do they do it?

Use Barch all the way. Before you even know it, you have 30k DE too :) thats what I did to upgrade my golem to level 2 ( the upgrade costs 60k DE). I made 60k DE for 1.5 days.
what trophy range are you raiding at?
I'm mid/high TH8 and I barch from 1700 - 2100 then back down again and mine seems to build up without much effort.
I've just spent 30k on BK LVL8 basically because it was there and the Lab was busy lol.
I use very little for raiding too btw, this makes all the difference.

You spend a little DE doing so, but you can raid more often, and also better (taking DE storages in the second layer)
During long periods of absence you can train dragons to raid strong villages with lots of DE.
I would stay between 1800 and 2000 trophies.
My DE storage was full (80K) when I upgraded my TH to 9.
And dont be affraid to press next to find a good target village.

Low level minions are ok for BAM too.
I have two accounts, on one they are maxed on the other they are level 2, both work well for me.
The key for me is to avoid air bombs and high level wizard towers (and multi-inferno).
Send one minion first to test the waters and quickly after it the rest of them. Use a rage spell once you are in.
When I was a TH8 I rarely never ever faced a raid against me that was targeted at my DE. TH10s have a too high loot penalty anyhow. I also hardly ever raided a TH8 myself for dark elixer
If you want de you must go where de is a plenty. Low Crystal 2 is usually pretty good.
I've farmed over 400k DE as th8 mainly using BAG, Barch, or BAM. Switch things up once in a while wheni get bored.
I stay in g2-c3 range and go up or down depending on loot quality.
Hit collector bases and pick off DE drills if you can. Also hit bases with DE storage that's on the perimeter or not defended well in core of base.
DE is a pain to farm, but it's not hard.
Yeah, I see these th 8s with 80k and Im like ♥♥♥ I only have 79.9k

Giant-wizard works for me. I can't find any drill raids at the upper Gold 2 league, but I'm farming DE storages well enough. Rate: 700-1000 DE/hour.
