A way to get rid of excess elixir trough walls (don't judge the thread by its title)

I'm a TH 9 and I have only one more elixir upgrade. Lab is done. I've had this problem since TH 7.
Trying to look for ways to get rid of my excess elixir, I've been playing doing pekkas and stuff, and I've lost 3 million gold elixir in 3 days.

But I'm also a farmer and all I've lost I can get it back in one day. So we need a more efficient way.

So I was thinking, walls are the major sink for gold, so there's always a thing to do with gold. But at a certain point (like atm with me) there's not much to do with elixir but seeing how it dissapears to nothing.

So my proposal is, add another upgrade to walls, besides the cost to upgrade.
NOTE: I'm not saying to exchange the gold it costs to upgrade walls, but add another thing to upgrade on walls.

Then what's the other thing to upgrade on walls? A little window/glass above them - for archers.
We know archers can easily shoot the building that it's behind the walls, but what if we added a small obstacle: a window that has to be broken before the archer can do its job.

Because my main purpose is to get rid of elixir, it's gonna be really expensive and this glass would have little hitpoints. It could be more expensive or have more hitpoints if you want. This little amount of time these windows would give could be used so that maybe a mortar can one shot kill a mass of archers

Right beside the button of wall upgrading there would be another one that would let to upgrade the wall and the glass above it would appear.

- Another possible use could be against hogs. If they're all released at once, the first ones would bounce back, making them stay closer. "Closerness"= more vulnerable against splash damage (giant bombs.)


Right now the game's fine without it, so if you are at crystal or further and can barely get elixir, simply don't buy it.

No thank you, that implies a heavy army that takes a lot of time and I need to farm (hello? Easy fast and cheap?) buildings and walls. Even if I did so and dropped trophies to gold leagues again I would fill my elix storages in 1 or 2 days. The problem stays the same.

If someone is gonna say that's what I've gotta pay by staying at farming leagues then I don't think you really want to improve the game. I can easily waste that elixir with full storages, but Id rather to use it in something useful.

Plus I already got the gems from masters so I see no point of going there again. A trip to champions would need a strong base and for that I need to farm right? :)

My point is, surplus elixir is ONLY a problem to pure farmers.

The other end of the game desperately needs every drop of it, and cannot afford any more elixir expenses.

Not everyone farms bro.

So what? SC constantly makes upgrades in defenses and troops "only" for TH 10, and not everyone has a TH 10 :) We would also like to use those updates but we can't because we want a good and maxed TH 9 or 8, needing to farm.

Why not making one for farmers?

Hmm, good idea. This is definitely a big problem in the game and causes a lot of people to quit. I know these walls should be expensive, but 1m for a 90 hp double wall is just too much, even compared to the normal wall prices. It think you should up the hp by 15% for all of the walls. Also, would troops like hogs and jump spelled troops be able to jump over these walls? Nice thread by the way.

They make upgrades in defenses and troops "only" for TH10 is because every other TH is done and finished with. New things for TH9 would be TH10.

It is also absolutely acceptable to let your elixirs spill over.

Elixir almost becomes useless at TH10. Like bnb525 said, even using expensive troops like PEKKAs doesn't help. Its true, there really is nothing to do with elixir at high levels, and people do quit because of this.

Well that is just silly IMO. I'm enjoying the elixir freedom at TH9 right now.

SuperCell did recently make spells cost elixir; which I think was enough to fix this 'imbalance'.

I can plenty donate drags/wiz to my clan buddies which they like, I can keep my forest clear; I can use and abuse spells to get loot. I have no idea why someone would quit over something which gives more freedom to raid.

Trying to save and spend elixir sucks, forces you to braindead bam/barch spam and makes you a donation / spell tightass.

Elixir freedom makes the game fun.

Ty for your support! I made the hitpoints based on the archers attack per second.
Lvl 1 is made for lvl 1 archers. Since they do 7 per second, 4 attacking at the same time will break the glass at once. However since supportive archers will be targeting the same spot that could create a clump of them and possibly die by the shot of a mortar :O
That's the first thing that came to my mind, but it's changeable, let's see if more people agree with what you advice :)

Now this has given me another idea, for hogs. If the attacker drops a bunch of them at the same time the first ones could bounce back, so that they're more closed together. I can see new defense tactics involving a little modified giant bombs as they are :)

Then I see a win-win for farming TH 9 and 10, since both would have a benefit. We TH 9 and below also want new updates, just like they did with clan wars. :)

With the spill over part, I said it before: It's being wasted. I'm here cause I want to give it a use instead of making it disappear.

I agree with the first part. I don't understand why would people quit with this, it's a problem but not a big one like loot and bla bla bla. If it happens, then here's a possible solution :)

And with the uses you said, I do them all. My spell factory is working the whole time; I give wizs at night since that's what most people prefer; clearing obstacles is not a great example since that takes too little elixir. So as you can see it's not enough and they haven't fixed this imbalance completely.

If you got to save elixir, then the same logic with walls applies: don't buy them. If you're trying to say suddenly people will be greedier with their elixir well, it's theirs, and they chose to do so. I can tell eventually they'll do all walls and will be flooding again. I see it as a solution cause elixir is certainly abundant.

Still, I'm here. The problem goes on. Seems like this freedom is spilling less than what my elix storage should.

What about making them hidden?
More than being a tactic, I see it as a graphical solution. 250 icons above walls would make bases look... Bad.
Instead of showing them all, let the ones that will be used appear only.
