Priorities at Town Hall 9

Hi All,

Soon I would have a Town hall 8 maxed out base and before I go for next Town hall upgrade, I just want to know few things. I want to know what things I need to get first in TH9? Would it be X-bows, Queen, DE drill or else?

Also, what should I upgrade first? Mortars, Hidden Tesla, Air-defense or else?
Also, what troop should I upgrade first? Barbs, Archers, Giants?
Could someone please provide me a list based on the priority.

It would be great if experienced players in this forum with TH9 & TH10 could help me on this.

In general offense before defense. So my priorities were the lab, spell factory, and camps, in that order. I also find it useful to build all new structures right away. The cheap early upgrades give you enough time to farm for some of the more expensive things. Obviously you don't want to tie up all 5 builders on long projects right away, so you have to balance your builders between long and short term projects. So I did 1 xbow initially, and started the 2nd one after a few days in order to space out my builders.

i just got to th9 yesterday maxed out aswell and the first gold upgrade im doing is the teslas cuz they take forever to do,i dont think it matters to much what you do first once your base is pretty well rounded

also i suggest maxing out both drills asap thats 4800 de a day

as far as troops go it all depends on what you use the most

Lab & Queen > SF > 4 Camp ASAP & 2 max drill ASAP

New wall > New air def, new wiz tower & new archer tower (adjust it to make less contrast with other)

Key def priority if you farm under crystal league : Wiz tower > Hold X bow lv 2 enough > Tesla > Canon > Arch tower > Hold your air Def lv 5 is enough > mortar

Key def priority if you farm upper crystal league : Wiz tower > X bow > Tesla > Arc tower > Air def lv 6 or 7 > Canon > mortar

Normal troops priority : Giant > Archer > Barbarian

If you confident can raid TH 9 storage with Barch : Barbarian & Archer > Giant

If you're very active player > BAM first > Giant

Thank you for the helpful list. I asked this same question yesterday and I got one response for a guide written a long time ago.

Here's how I started and it worked great I wouldn't change it.

Lab, camps, De drills are priorities and you should have most builders on these till they are maxed. I think I had one working on the new defenses lwhile I farmed the elixir. Defenses should not be a priority though. I didn't build my new Tesla till at least 7 days or more into th9.

Lab depends on if your a ground or air guy. I'd probably go giants as you need around 150 mil elixir as soon as possible for th9 and just a couple maxed giants change the game a bit. Than of do barbs followed by loons and minions. By the time your loons and minions are done you should be getting out of the elixir phase and into DE focused raiding with gold as secondary. Try to always have st least one hero going at all times.

Also you should of course get queen asap try to have it already farmed prior to upgrade finishing.

Oh as far as defenses go th9 mortars go down in importance since they already one shot archers.
I'd focus on wizard towers as their new level is amazing, followed by your air defense and xbows, than I'd go canons since they have a great return on your investment time wise and hogs will be raiding you a lot in crystal.

Lab, spell factory, queen, camps & XBows... i wouldn't waste time on DE drill.


Troops: archers to lvl5, then balloon to max so u can loon in crystal for DE and rss.
