Full DE doesn't get full loot

I am not whining about anything just that I was attacked with the DE storage full (level 1) and was completely destroyed, and gave the attacker 250 DE. So I now have less DE. Then someone attacked me for 256 without completely destroying my DE storage (level 1 still) but it wasn't full (I was raided between this attack and the other leaving this with 9500 in the storage by the moment). I don't have a DE drill for this to have happened because player 1 didn't raid the drill and player 2 did.

It seemed to me odd that if I had more, why did I get raided less? Has this happened to anyone else (on defense because there is no way to verify if it was full)? Does this happens to other resources?

Loot multipliers are your culprit. The one who got more had a lower TH level than the one who got less.

Loot penalty.

Let's say you have 10000 DE (your full level 1 storage). When a DE storage is attacked they can get 5%. That means 500 DE. If the first attack yielded 250, that means they must be TH9 and you're TH7, because TH9 gets a 50% penalty and 250 is 50% of 500.

That leaves 9750 DE in the storage, with about ~487 DE available to be stolen. Now let's say the next attack was from a TH8. They only get a 10% reduction. Meaning they can steal 438 DE; considerably more than the TH9 can get.
