My clanmates have 20 space in their castles. I've been giving them Lvl 3 Dragons for clan wars, but I'm wondering if they'd be better served with five lvl 5 wizards instead?

Usually the wizards are better because noobs dont pull cc and they will do more damage. Dragons are slightly more a pain in the ♥♥♥ if cc is pulled. Especially if theirs heros helping.

Wizards, they are faster and have a longer range. Dragons are too slow and attack slow as well.
I think a dragon is harder to deal with personally. If you don't have archers or wizards yourself then your army is in trouble
Neither, dragons are shot down easily and wizards are too slow. Use archers or witches. Valks work well too.

It really depends. I find that lower level players with exposed clan castles benefit more from dragons, because they are more difficult to kill after an easy lure. Higher level players with centralised clan castles benefit from wizards much more because they deal so much more damage than dragons.
Do some of each -- if your whole clan has the same CC troops it becomes too predictable.
I would go for the level 5 wizards because A) they take less time to train and B) it does better splash damage
that fact is why now that i have a 35 space cc and its very hard to pull i am seriously considering asking for archers. i have a ton of trouble attacking a hard to pull cc and getting ALL those damn archers out!

People with town hall 7 or less struggle to keep their CCs unreachable, and often, it is not centralised. Therefore, it is better to feed them something with higher hitpoints to make it more difficult for the opponent to kill, since their opponent will easily lure out everything anyway.
Higher level players tend to have their CCs centralised, or at least in a position that is more difficult to lure. That is why I recommended wizards for people with centralised town halls, because the focus should be trying to make it difficult to lure/less hp, rather than more difficult to kill/more hitpoints, as with lower level bases.
I would say dragon. Wizards like to bunch up and can be easily wiped out. Archers+Wizards is a good choice.
Lvl 5 Wizards.
IMO They're Way Better Than Drags,With A Centralised CC,Those Wizards Fry Troops Faster Than A Frying Pan.;)
Both have benefits, dragons is harder kill unless you get it far away but it doesn't do damage quick enough and wizards can just be lightning spelled and all die but otherwise the are faster and have good attack, I fill my clans castles with wizards because they are cheaper and quicker and I prefer them
Wizards and minions would probably work because they can't both be killed by splash damage
archers.

2 wizards + 12 barbs/arch would make more sense
