No loot unless you get 1 star
So many people will attack and not care about winning as long as they get loot. It sucks when I see a successful defense and yet they get to keep the stolen loot. Why? I won the battle dammit!! Gimmie my loot back! lol.
Even on the other side it feels weird loosing a battle and yet getting to keep what my troops took. Maybe it's just me, but unless I get at least 1 star it just doesn't feel right.
So my idea is that you need to get at least 1 star to keep your loot. This will discourage people leaving their TH's exposed on purpose to get a shield, which has to be one of the dumbest things about CoC. And if you think about it I bet you'll agree. Tons of people intentionally loose battles because it simply doesn't matter, which is pretty horrible in a battle centered game. Well, now it will matter.
Protect your TH effectively and it's the same as having a shield up. Also this has the bonus of eliminating the annoying as hell DE lit hits.
I know this is a big change, but it just makes sense and the only downside I see is the whiners on the forums. There are no whiners here, right? RIGHT?! :)

This will encourage people to try to get more stars (which is the point of the game, have you noticed that SC hates farming) and gain trophies. People can still put thier town hall out, they'd just be losing some more loot. There is a reward for destroying more and a penalty for not destroying much.

Without farming, no one would have a good base unless they spent tons of REAL money. Plus i have my town hall on the outside to get free shields while my defenses upgrade. If you don't like this, go play clash of lords

I like your idea a lot!
My biggest issue right now is that I will be trying to save up resources and then someone will attack only stealing resources. Not getting any stars. So my shield doesn't activate, and then someone else comes along and steals more. It's a pain in the butt! Because I can't ever save up enough to buy anything new.
In my issue, at the very least, I think it would be nice to make the shield pop up based on how much percentage of your resources you lose. Not based on your base's destruction. Because there's nothing, besides resources, that your losing when your base is destroyed. So what is the point of putting up a shield for 12 hours to regain the lost resources, if in 12 hours I can't even make up the x number of resources I lost.
Maybe, I'm missing the point here. But I do like your idea about they have to destroy a certain percentage of your base to keep a certain percentage of the recourses.
One question though, would the extra percentage come from the defender or from game cash?
