Rush to TH 7 in 3 weeks with no regret! Should I continue to TH 8?

I started playing coc about 3 weeks ago and have just reached TH 7. With the additional barrack and army camp, I am gaining very lucrative loot using just barbarians and archers. I spent $10 to get the 3^rd and 4^th builders early on and didn’t use gems on anything else. I also plan to spend the remaining 600 gems buying a barbarian king, once the dark elixir storage is done.

Here is my current army upgrade:
Archer level 3
Barbarian level 3
Giant level 3
Wall breaker level 2
Lightening spell level 2

However, my tower and wall levels are very low (I kind of give up on them). The main reasons being:
1. I only lose 200-300k each after being attacked. The amount stolen could be very easily replenished.
2. Defensive structures take time and resources, which I would rather spend on upgrading army.
3. I will be 3-starred anyway.

My plan forward is to rush to TH 8 and then TH 9 where I could have an archer queen. Meanwhile, I will keep raiding and upgrading my army. HOWEVER, all my clanmates said that this is a bad idea. In fact, they asked me not to rush to TH 6 or TH 7 when I was still in TH 5. But look at where I am now. I have 4 barracks and 4 army camps which allow very efficient raiding.

Could someone please convince me that further townhall-rushing is a bad idea? As mentioned above, I don't care about resources being stolen. The only concern I have is that I won’t be able to raid as efficiently with barb and archer at TH 8 or 9.

If you want but you will suffer super heavily. I'm going into th8. I have only 1 more upgrade to start to max out def for th 7 besides walls. I know i will be smashed easily by mid th8 or higher. You need to max out archers, barbs, wall breakers, Giants and wizards at least to have any chance in th8 along with at least 90% or better maxed def. Even then you will probly get smashed.

Rushing to th7 is fine, dont rush to th8 though

Rushing up to TH7 is good, you can recover and doesn't make too much of a difference but after TH8 if you don't max out, or at least max out most of your stuff, you would suffer. There is a huge jump in cumulative costs between TH1-6 to TH7-10.

Have you ever heard of loot penalties?


Basically the higher you go the less loot you are able to get out of an attack, and its pretty heavy. If you attack 2 townhalls below you, you loose 50 % of the possible loot. More if you attack 3 townhalls below you. So your "strong army" isnt going to be mowing down the th5's and th6's anymore. Your going to have to fight it out with townhalls at your level.

So dont think the higher you climb the easier it is to loot, its not. Yes your attacking armies will be strong, but TH9 requires 7.5million to upgrade your archers . . . reality is going to hit you pretty damn hard soon.

But if that doesnt make you reconsider, i wish you best of luck. Oh and please please keep your builders working on your goldmines and elixer collectors if possible.

make sure you have BARCH army at lvl4 before going to TH8. And i would really love to raid you and steal 200k-300k that are meaningless to you. TH8 wont give me loot penalty..joke :)

While I'm not in the "MAX EVERYTHING AT TH7!" camp, I do believe you should spend some time at TH7 before you move to TH8.

Specifically:

Max your mortars to lvl 5
Max army camps to 200 space
Max Research on Archers/Barbs at least

I didn't go to TH8 maxed, but most of my defenses were 1-2 levels below max and I had all purple walls. My rule of thumb is when you get to the point where you can't spend your loot fast enough, it's time to upgrade your TH.

(in my case my walls were finished and I'd sit for days with full storages because my builders were tied up on multi-day projects)

I personally am a big fan of maxing or almost maxing bases... it seems as though you play a good and if you want the fun to keep coming for months to come you need to upgrade your base. While right now the upgrading is easy because upgrades are so cheap, eventually you will have to fight for every resource and 300k loot will no longer be "meaningless" because of loot penalty. If you want to continue upgrading town hall without maxing that's fine I would just encourage you to upgrade at least a good portion of your base before you move up to th8 and th9.

It all depends on how active you are. As long as your camps and farming army is fully upgraded then go for it. All you need is to be in the right trophy range. Th8: gold3-2, th9: gold2-3. This loot penalty is imaginary i think. I was a premie for th8 and 9 and I get massive loot all the time. 220k/220k avg per raid. Just go for collector raids with your barch army and you'll be fine

Get level 5 mortars and level 4 wiz towers before going or youll get looted very easy
also air defense to atleast 4 would help a lot, you'll be getting raided by air more

If i were u farm until u get all lvl 4 motars and look up on utube some base designs and also get teslas. I rushed to twn hall 7 also but its not 600 gems for barb king. But now im one of the best players in the world

I would stay at 7 for quite a while. You will be able to farm a whole lot more resources and will get a lot less stolen from you. Going to be a lot harder to upgrade your base once you're in 8 and even more so if you also make a quick jump to 9.

id stay at 7 until you have nowhere to use gold or nowhere to use elixir without upgrading your th.

Upgrade your mortars, wiz tower and air defense and archer towers to max levels. And try to upgrade your barracks as you can unlock healers and dragons.

Air defense is something to shoot down air troops so it'll be best if you max it out to better prevent enemies using air raids against you.

Thanks I will try. All these upgrades take days to finish, and I only have 4 builders. What's the point of constantly sitting on maxed out resources and not being able to spend them. There is also no point of raiding since I can't store the loots. All I do is wait.

The game becomes boring now.. :(

dont rush to th8, maxing out th7 helps a ton with walls later on!

The loot penalty will force you to attack higher TH.
Higher TH are generally more active, which mean more nexting and less loot.
Higher TH also mean you need better army to reach their storage.

So in the end you'll spend more, gain less, while everyone keep flatten your base because there is no defense. If you like that, go ahead.

Please, PLEASE, upgrade to TH8. Your weak mortars, weak wizard towers, and confusion over ipthe importance of air defense will make your 300k you lost as a TH6-7 means much much more for me, a TH8 once you're up here with the rest of us. Well go ahead and take 500k and wipe you out before you can come close to breaking 1.5 million for a simple upgrade. Not to mention how you'll be able to protect 3 million in gold with your defenses.

Not to mention the TH9 that has maxed troops that will eat you up and spit you out.

So yes, please,upgrade, I welcome your loot for my raiders.

If you insist on upgrading your th to 8 early, consider maxing at least mortars and wizard tower. They help a lot

I'd say that you should just stay at TH 7 and max most of it, then continue to TH 8. Things get really different at the higher town halls, from 1-7 is a cakewalk compared to the next few town halls. From this point, I say that you should get all your premmie and un-upgraded stuff up to the proper level, and max all town halls from here on out. Or you could rush and become another premmie that I can take 300k/300k/6k with one barbarian;)

As long as your spell factory, laboratory, army camps, clan castle, and troops are maxed for your TH level that you are at, and you are very active then going to TH9 is fine.

You can BArch TH8 and TH9 with lvl 5 troops. The less active you are the more you need to max your current TH.

At TH9 you will be about 30% stronger offensively then TH8, and TH8 is barely stronger then TH7.

So max all the troops you use, make sure all your offensive building are fully upgraded and be prepared to have to attack TH8+. You will also have to make sure that your account is active continuously to prevent loosing everything every time you turn it off, and make sure you use the shields you get wisely.

I maxxed TH7, everything and walls, then skipped TH8 only researching archers and barbs. Did fine entering TH9, but I play for long stretches of time when I break my shield.

What kind of argument is this? Persuasion with sarcasm?

If he's a premie th7, he's most likely raiding a lot more than the casual gamer. You know what that means? It means that he's getting a lot of gold to spend on walls, and maxing his splash damage and AD. He's not simply going to have full gold storages, is the thing. Why would he have filled gold storages if he has things to spend them on? If he's raiding a lot more than he's getting attacked, saving enough gold for upgrades isn't a big deal. WHY would he get raided if enemies have nothing to take? If he loses trophies it is no big deal, he can get them back from raiding, so there is nothing to lose.

Though, if I were you @ the OP, I would probably get maxed troops and much higher splash damage before upgrading to th8.

The only reason to upgrade to th8 is for level 5 troops so no point in going until you have level 4. While your doing that work on splash and air defences.

if you want to upgrade then it's up to you. If your not worried about losing 300k then fine but keep in mind that upgrades get progressively more expensive.

well, the most regretted time is while I stay 1 month trying to max TH7
once I'm TH8, I found out that was stupid to follow those max everything on TH7 advice...

just get your army to Lv.4, you're good to go TH8...
but th9 is another different story buddy

Max barbs archers and camps first, then go up for sure. I rushed to TH8 and don't regret it at all. If I stayed TH7 and maxed everything, now I maybe only an early TH9 with only lv8 walls.
TH7 is easily crushed by TH8. TH8 is easily crushed by TH9, or even by skillful TH8 attacker. TH9 is crushed
by skillful TH9 or TH 10. So there is no difference in getting crushed.
Then, there is no point to stay TH7 forever to max defenses.

Just max your farming offense, once barbs archers camp spells are maxed your the same as everyone else. People forget this is a offensive game if you can farm 400k and lose 200k every time you play then your ahead of all the MaxerCultist.

Stayed at th8 for 14 days and premied to th9 was best choice i made since playing.

There's still one more builder. Also thats why you can time your builders to finish one everyday. Extra loot should be put into walls. They do make a big difference. If you are farming more than you can store in one day than keep one builder free all the time for walls. Also it gets way way harder to keep towers upgradeing your just behind so stuff is still cheap. I just dumped 7 mil into an xbows upgrade yesterday.

if you are hell bent on rushing, the only defense i would be upgrading is teslas. this way you might be able to upset attackers who think they have an easy mark.


teslas by far are the best tower in the game, excluding th10's infurnos.

I would max out your TH7. I did this and have no regrets going into TH8. It makes it so that even when you are fresh into th8, you can still defend pretty well against defenses. It just makes everything short in the long-run. Less upgrades you have to do at th8 or th9. Also, yes, you will be getting raided for all your loot if you rush to th9.

No real point in farming if everytime you put your phone down in between troop making, you get raided for 250k each.

If you want to rush to th9 for max troops, you'll have to go through level 4, and level 5 upgrades anyway, so might as well do all of those while farming in th7 and th8 while maxing out your defenses to lower the number of loot being stolen from you. As for the archer queen, trust me, that should not be the reason you rush to th9. She is good, but you wont even be able to raid for the DE required for her without losing it all. You need strong troops and strong lightning spells if the AQ is your goal. Without maxing those out in previous town halls, you will lose it all the time.

So all in all, max or mostly max your th7, and max your th8.

Go ahead...do it ! Road kill is always appreciated. Attacking your base will be like a high school date. Cheap, fast and easy.

Heres my prediction if you rush to TH 8:
1) Feel delighted
2) Get whatever building you want immediately
3) Feel bored after a month for the fact that you have been seeing new stuffs every other day since you started CoC
4) Start gemming for whatever you want in order to see new stuffs keep pouring in, maybe even rushing all the way to TH 10
5) Feel pointless about the game and quit

The best player is about how long can they stick with the game, not how fast they can upgrade/farm/raid nor about how good their skill/concept/idea are.


If you know you are going to stick with the game regardless of potentially sticking at TH 8 for 9 months without any fancy new buildings showing up, go ahead and do whatever you want.

As a TH5, your troop lvl is literally exactly my troop lvl. Upgrade.

According to your defense reasoning:

2. Defensive structures take time and resources, which I would rather spend on upgrading army. Better defense, more trophies. More trophies, more loot. Better defense, less resource loss. More resource to spend, spend on army and such.
3. I will be 3-starred anyway. IF your defense is higher it could be a 2 star, 1 star and enough zero star. This statement of cowardice, believe in yourself, don't be like "Oh whatevers I don't care"

You are not thinking long term. It's going to cause pain and regret when it bites you back.

Honestly, I really like maxing everything out, but rushing isn't that bad.

The best thing to do is to build all your new buildings, upgrade all those walls you have to max level, and get your offense to a point where you are comfortable raiding at a higher level.

But seriously... Don't rush to TH 9. Life will hit you like a brick up there.

Excluding teslas and air defense, the longest upgrades are 4 days, others being less, if you have maxed storage for TH7, then have every builder working, max storage (4 mill gold) then every day (or less because most upgrades shorter then 4 days) spend as much as you can on walls, then upgrade a defense, you then have (hopfully) between 6-24 hours to max your storage AGAIN, and repeat, this way, you will be able to raid quite often (more the 4 mill a day) PLUS get tons of walls/upgrades done.

You say you don't care if you get raided 250k+, that was how I felt, because EVERY upgrade, you can get with out saving up, because they are so cheap, I can tell you one thing, if you have a premie TH9, and you don't gem, you WILL NOT be able to get archer queen, by the time you even come close, you will get 3 stared every time you log off, for 2k elixir. Being a premie isn't to bad until TH8. Then it sucks. I'd recommend upgrading all defenses INCLUDING TESLAS, most people forget them, not realizing that at TH7, maxed teslas do same amount of damage as maxed cannons and archer towers, at TH8+ the tesla passes cannon and archer towers up (you can upgrade a tesla 3 times at TH8, and cannons/AT only twice) Just my thoughts, if you do go premie, and quit, make your mines and drills, and collectors, and TH, freebies, REALLY helps ecomoney!

Really appreciate all the comments from the community. I have decided to stay in TH7 for a little while and at least get some decent upgrades going. Farming has been great! I am looking at all deep purple walls + maxed resources (except for dark elixir). Since I skipped lots of defensive upgrades, it would take at least 7-9 weeks for me to max out th7, based on my estimation with 5 constantly working builders.

The pace of the game has slowed down quite a bit. I will try to be patient but we will see :)

ps. need an more active clan
ps2. should I go DE hunting?
ps3. is it normal to continue farming regardless of full storages?

Enjoy farming in TH 7, ur patience now will pay off in the future
Definitely try to farm DE, get going with BK upgrades, and upgrade ur hogs early (trust me, u can then be the super star of TH 7 with lv 2 hogs roaming premature TH 9 bases)
At least for elixir, you will find urself constantly be full with. Thats normal. Put them outside the walls, help out others who need elixirs meanwhile get urself some defense wins for the achievement.

I maxed th 7 before going on to th 8... and th 8 is rough, DONT DO IT!!! Stay at th 7, and savor it while you still can!
