I will be hitting th8 in about 6 hours. I have enough for lab and possibly CC upgrade off the bat. Should i gem for a DE drill so i can start getting de faster or farm it?

yes, try and get your DE drill level 3 as fast as possible and upgrade troops first.
I don't think it's necessary to gem it, just upgrade it early on, all the way to max lvl 3.
Don't gem it, at lvl 1 it's worthless.

I farm more Dark in a night than I could get gemming a L3 drill for a week.
As a th8 if your an active attacker you'll be earning way more de from raid then even a lvl 3 drill will produce. Get it and upgrade it, but don't gem it. Use those gems to boost barracks and raid the de instead.
It's not a comparison of what gets you more DE, junyab. It's a matter of a supplementary DE source.Quote:

Obviously they aren't the primary source of DE for active farmers, but when you ADD it to what farmers make, it's a smart investment.
Maxing Drills - big yes. I wouldn't gem them though. There a huge help, more so than mines and way more than collectors
Gemming the drill - NOOOOO, drills are ridiculous to boost. Spend 10 gems and boost your spell factor, much better investment.

Gem level 3 Drill = Approx. 1000 extra de gained from boost.
Raid with Giants Barb and Archer, Gem spell factory for 2 hours = 2 extra healing spells in each raid in total 5-6 raids. Lets assume you are in 1300-1400 trophy range and you are aiming 500+ de/raid.(actually its really easy to find an attackable base with 500de.) So, in 5-6 raid, you should be able to get 2500-3000 de. If you are lucky enough, you could get much more de out of 10 gems.
Conclusion is do not gem drill.
