I believe you may be missing the point of the thread. It's not a debate as to whether people are greedy and feel that they should or shouldn't have to waste 50 troops instead of 3 troops to take an outer townhall, the debate is why do people do this if they are likely going to ♥♥♥♥ off the attacker, and if the attacker is strong enough, they will then try to 3-star the base instead of just giving a cheap shield.

That's the silly part. Most of the posters here are just saying how they like to 3-star a base that does this to teach them a lesson for trapping their TH. I agree with them.

But if you don't care about losing resources and just want the funny replays, then go right ahead, it's a game and you should be able to have fun however you like if it doesn't break any policies or rules.

The free shield is of much higher value than the few trophies the sniper gets. The deal is one gets easy trophies, the other an easy shield. I will snipe while farming to maintain range, but only if it's a guaranteed easy snipe. If I have to use more than a handful of troops it becomes a hassle, and my time and effort is better spend elsewhere. Much more efficient to use those troops to 3star a th below regardless of loot, rather than snipe a trapped TH of a higher player and get nothing.

I have been doing it for a few days now and it is proving pretty good
as a new TH10 I am up in crystal and every 2-3 raids someone fails so I win 20-30 trophies keeping my tropjies up while having good gold protection

When I was a lower level player I use to do this and Ill give you my justification as to why I use to use this setup.

When I was TH 6/7 I learned about TH snipers and how they mostly use spamable troops in their raids such as BARCH (BAM wasn't a form of attack when I was TH 7 since dark troops weren't out yet). Knowing this I put my TH outside my base not too far but far enough to make an attacker seem confident in their attack.

Morters where just in range to pick off barbarians and archer towers where just on the edge to hit archers. With this defense it seemed like it was a doable snipe by using deception as to how far my defenses where for it. However I laid my tesla's between my TH and still outside the walls. This assured when the attacker struck all the defenses would hit and they would have to spend tons of troops to now salvage what they could for just the TH. Not to mention they had to get through a tanky TH before actually striking defenses.

Now what was the point of this?

When I was TH 7 I was in gold leagues and would get hit by people with significantly better troops such as lvl 5 archers and barbs which could do some pretty good damage against a TH 7. Not to mention the TH 9's that would attack despite the loot penalty. With this set up I could focus a ton of firepower on 1 point in my base which had a pretty high chance of being attacked regardless if the player was TH sniping or actually attacking my base. So regardless of the attacking players intentions I would either win some trophies from their attempt to snipe, or I would have a high chance of warding off a legitimate attack from my TH buying time for the defenses to soften them up.

People who do this dont have any reason! They put there th outside for free shields but put all there traps around it to make sure that they dont get free shields??!!

They do this to troll someone into starting another thread about Town Halls with Teslas Outside...and it worked. See the new thread I just posted about "Lightning on DE storages..."

Personally I put my th right in the corner and surround it with decorations, to show there's no bombs/teslas... Meaning I get a nice 12h shield overnight rather than getting (potentially) done over for 250/250/1.5+. Keep trolling, I know I prefer the free shields. xD

Anyway if the tesla pop out and you're not strong enough to give a lessons just leave it. There are always a stronger player will come to their base in one night defending

I already learn to never give shield to this kind of players, whatever they say there are no moral on the reason.... to gain trophy from the corner TH ? if they're really a trophy pusher player they put their TH inside and def like a man. It's completely dumb trolls which is begging for shield but want to harass the shield giver

One reason i can tolerate is they do it for funny reaction from the newbie player, then if the newbie fail to giving shield it's funny to see who will drop next

Despite getting my base 100%'d, from time to time some trophy hunter will fail their attack and I enjoy watching it.
