I put down roots for Xbow because it's no fun being TH9 without them. It's also important to upgrade lab right away. You might want to look into upgrading DE drills as soon as possible.... it will serve you well in the long run upgrading heroes. I also put down a AQ right away. I'm not sure that Xbows and AQ are the best bets but it's why I went to TH9 to begin with. I just like new things.
There are several excellent threads on these pages that I researched before I made the jump so it's worthwhile to get some second opinions. There's just soooooo much to upgrade at TH9. Good luck.
Don't use your gems to upgrade anything, rather use them to boost once you find the right trophy level to far at. Go for the new buildings first, especially the xbows. Then for elixir, prioritize your lab, then army camps, and then your spell factory.Quote:

So plan is too buy one x-bow, upgrade spell factory buy DE drill and upgrade current one to 4. How is that?
yup for sure.
I just went through this as i got th9 a month ago or so.
i got bow, drill, lab upgrade, spell factory upgrade, 1 army camp upgrade that night. This was after placing the new buildings that were quick builds. including the AQ. wich i upped to lvl 2 immediately as i had 60 something k de saved up.
I then upgraded other 3 army camps while getting the other bow and placing the other buildings like wiz tower and tesla.
CC upgrade. then maxed drills (well, they are both uppgrading to lvl 6 as i type this)
When it was rdy i got lvl 6 barbs then loons and now lvl 6 giants have a week or so left.
the new archer tower, wizard tower and tesla got some upgrades in this time. as did the new giant bomb.
Im about done with the opening staged of th9 now and am planning on getting the bows and wiz towers maxed when the drills finish up and the new deffences are at my current lvl. wich should be around the same time.
I boost 1 time every evening after work.
I got both xbows/ lab/ level 2 aq/ and started the new elixir storage right away. Has worked out pretty well so far.
Just turned TH9 also. Went for AQ, lab, DE drill. Saving up on that gold since i was finishing up my purp walls during the transition. :P
In my opinion, the laboratory should be the VERY first thing you upgrade because troops are (at least to me) the most important part of the game.
With 5 builders:
1. Laboratory
2. AQ (Very Important!)
3. DE Drill
4. XBow
Keep an additional builder free for walls at all time, otherwise your gold just goes to waste.
