So I have upgraded the grocery & the diner for more reputation points but they are both still giving me 4 & 9 respectively. Is this a bug? Has anyone else upgraded any buildings for more reputation points?

So I have upgraded the grocery & the diner for more reputation points but they are both still giving me 4 & 9 respectively. Is this a bug? Has anyone else upgraded any buildings for more reputation points?
It's a 5% increase on each upgrade so you'll need to do the diner twice may be thrice and the grocery store five times, unless each upgrade increases beyond the initial level of 5% of course.
Thank you! Makes sense *sheepish grin*
I would not invest expansion materials into upgrading the XP/RP, or coins, but instead would upgrade all slots. Even after I got all the slots, I might not upgrade time. Just my opinion :)
Yeah, now that I see how many expansion items are needed to increase reputation by tenths of a point, I won't bother with that any more either. Now as to time spent in b&b I may upgrade that... Gotta do the math first to see if its worth it!
I've upgraded the time on the cinema twice so far because I had so many silo tools and kept getting hammers that I felt why not. The first time I did it, the difference was 9 minutes, a big whoop dee doo. The second increase was also 5% which gave me a whopping 15 minutes (maybe a tad more) off the time. OK, you'd think "why bother," BUT... if I do it a third time it takes the time down 10% instead of 5%. I'm pretty sure that would be a substantial difference, but since my head hurts from that little bit of math, I'll ask Perky if she can figure it out for me. :)
And besides, as much as I tend to hover over my little town, every minute off helps. ESPECIALLY since this is a building that uses farm tools. Now I appreciate them a little more! Haha!
(My head really does hurt, too, though not from the math. Really. I promise.)
The cinema is the only building I have upgraded the time once on and I noticed it wasn't a big decrease either. I need to check and see if I have enough for another upgrade:). Like you I will wait for Perky to do the math to see what the difference works outs to be as it has been a very rough Monday and my head can't handle numbers right now :p :)
shealie, are you saying that the first upgrade took 5% of the time off, the second took another 5% off, and the third took an additional 10% off? if so, perhaps the percentage off continues to increase! and if that's true, then perhaps the reputation point increase also increases!! ok, now MY head hurts! jk, i do hope you feel better :)
My husband and I are literally ROFL(our)BO at all you folks asking ---> ME <--- to DO THE MATH!!!
If you only knew --
I don't do the math in my checkbook.
I don't help kindergarteners with math homework.
I don't add, I guesstimate.
IN SHORT: I am INFAMOUS for my INABILITY to use INTEGERS!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
That having been said: here is my stab at some more math:
IMPORTANT: FOR THE PURPOSES OF THESE NUMBERS I AM ASSUMING THAT (like for the feed mills) THE TIME REDUCTIONS ARE TAKEN AGAINST THE SERVICE TIME AT EACH LEVEL. That means that the reductions get smaller as the time is upgraded, but increase again when the reduction percentage is increased.
The three time upgrades WE KNOW are available from player experience:
B&B time upgrade 1: -5% = 24 min reduction = 7h36m service time
B&B time upgrade 2: -5% = 23 min reduction = 7h13m service time
B&B time upgrade 3: -5% = 21 min reduction = 6h53m service time
The three time upgrades WE ARE GUESSING ABOUT (needs confirmation from folks who have gotten there):
B&B time upgrade 4: -5% = 20 min reduction = 6h33m service time
B&B time upgrade 5: -5% = 19 min reduction = 6h14m service time
B&B time upgrade 6: -5% = 18 min reduction = 5h56m service time
FOR THE CINEMA time upgrades that we KNOW:
Cinema time upgrade 1: -5% = 9 min reduction = 2h51m service time
Cinema time upgrade 2: -5% = 8 min reduction = 2h43m service time
IF the pattern for the upgrades holds the same across all buildings, then we know from the B&B that Upgrade 3 should be as follows:
Cinema time upgrade 3: -5% = 8 min reduction = 2h35m service time
Now we are purely guessing again - these upgrade possibilities also need confirmation of pattern and amount, just as for B&B:
Cinema time upgrade 4: -5% = 7 min reduction = 2h28m service time
Cinema time upgrade 5: -5% = 6 min reduction = 2h22m service time
Cinema time upgrade 6: -5% = 7 min reduction = 2h8m service time
I HAVE UPDATED THIS POST TO REFLECT BETTER INFORMATION RECEIVED. IT NOW APPEARS THAT THE STANDARD 5% REDUCTION APPLIES TO ALL UPGRADES FOR TIME.
The only issue I see with upgrading the cinema is that the visitors tend to go for candy and with chocolate, lollipops and jelly beans taking 10+ hours, some patrons will be turned away. At the moment I leave the grocery store to last on my visitors route but may change if I expand the cinema with the easily obtainable expansion items compared to the others.
Thanks for the maths Perky.... When you need Laplace transforms give me a shout ;-)
Neen, your question made me go take a closer look because I kept seeing "10%" on that little pocket watch icon, and it turns out I was WRONG WRONG WRONG. Darn. I clicked on it and it says it will still increase by only 5%; the 10% means I've already increased it by that much. RATS. HOWEVER...when you increase by 5% each time, the time saved grows exponentially, I think. You're saving 5% on what's there, then 5% on what's left, and so on. So it's still a good deal, the 5% each time. I would imagine it would work the same way with any other upgrade, i.e. reputation points and coins.
Sorry to have steered you wrong, I was so excited about seeing that 10%. DOH!!
And now Perky is going to KILL me for being wrong about the 10% after she did ALL THAT MATH. Sorry Perky
<she says very red faced>!!! I guess I should have toggled back and forth a few hundred more times between the upgrade icons and the part that says exactly WHAT or HOW MUCH is being upgraded. Still, 5% compounded with each upgrade would add up to some considerable time saved. I'd say I would do it on that dratted B&B but I still need to upgrade the 6th slot and bricks are near impossible for me to come by, especially since the spa needs them too. I only started upgrading the cinema time because of all the farm tools it needed and I get hammers right and left.
Hmm, that is too bad Shealie & Perky. But bluecat makes a good point, some of the items take so long to make that we may have run out of them and then not be able to serve the visitors. Time & resources are very dependent on each other. I'm curious too what exactly bluecat is offering...
Nah -- no worries. :) Math was right at about my level and didn't take long to correct. ha ha ha
Yes I agree. Now that you have me thinking about this, I have also decided to upgrade for time in the B&B -- SOMETHING ELSE you taught me Shealie (benefits of fishing w nets was other). :) :) :)
Yeah i do the same thing with Tom too. I haven't used Tom in awhile, really haven't needed to as my barn stays too full :D but I decided to go ahead and work him for awhile as those Town people really like to eat things that take a long time to make or require lots of cheese:p ;).
After reading this thread I definitely need to start upgrading the time on my cinema..little harder to do the B&B as the tools needed do not show up as quick as some of the others :).
I did go ahead and upgrade my PT to hold 2 passengers and decreased the time once just for the heck of it even though I am not in a Neighborhood at the moment ;) ;).
.
Hopefully this is all happening after visitor slots are maxed, which I believe are the clear first choice for upgrades.
Glad I could help! Re your post about sending away the jellybean consumers, I hired Tom for 5 days last week (pure luxury) to bring those bars for upgrading the PT and to bring candy. I can't quite bring myself to send away peeps once they get in my service buildings, but I'm having no problem sending those away who want both the B&B and the spa - that's 12 hours to wait, possibly more if they want a third building, and my inner clock just doesn't want to wait that long. Yep, I'm 5 years old. :D
Trying to figure out how these upgrades work. Check out this chart of reputation point upgrades and compare it to what is actually happening in your town. Then please post your findings. Is this chart accurate? It is based on the assumption that each 5% increase in reputation points is based on the original points given. This may or may not be a correct assumption. For example, the grocery gives 4 reputation points. 5% of 4 is .2. So when compiling this chart i assumed that each upgrade will give an additional .2 points.
Building upgrades (rep points)
Grocery
0% = 4
5% = 4.2
10% = 4.4
15% = 4.6
20% = 4.8
25% = 5
Diner
0% = 9
5% = 9.45
10% = 9.9
15% = 10.35
20% = 10.8
25% = 11.25
Cinema
0% = 11
5% = 11.55
10% = 12.1
15% = 12.65
20% = 13.2
25% = 13.75
The reason I am asking is that my cinema has been upgraded to 25% and I still get only 11 points per visitor. Perhaps there is a bug? Please post here about which buildings you have upgraded the reputation points and what you are actually getting. I stopped at 25% because if the chart is wrong, I'd like to get it right before continuing. Thanks!
Given by the prior logic/coding of the game,
Grocery store should give you +1 reputation points (rounded up) for 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% & 25% bonus.
It also should give you +2 reputation points for 30% bonus.
For cinema it should be.
0% 11
5% 12
10% 13
15% 13
20% 14
25% 14
30% 15
I think the game code does not use rounding function, instead it uses floor and ceiling functions. So 4.1 & 4.9 are both floored to 4 or ceil'd to 5.
This bonus looks a lot like mastery truck order bonuses or mastery time bonuses. That's why I thought it to be rounded up. :)
It uses flood function in this case - i.e. rounds everything down, so 4.9 is still 4. :p
Neen, you actually get a bonus but it comes after you get your base coins, base xp and base rep points. Then there will be a bonus item (if any) followed by bonus coins, bonus xp and bonus rep points. You can refer to the following thread which I posted and got answered by helpful forum players.
http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...-after-upgrade
Also do not forget about the xp bonus that comes along with that upgrade. I do not know your level but I am only lev 50 and my focus is catching up with some nh people. A 30% bonus on xp is better than I can do anywhere in the farm where I only get machine bonuses.
Frankly, I am surprised there hasn't been a qq thread asking why machine bonuses don't apply to town sales...
Yes, you are right. We get 11+2 at 25% in the cinema even though technically it is 13.75 points.
thanks for the link. That is exactly what happens. It would be better if (when you click on the person to see what they would like to order) it showed how many experience/reputation points they will give you with the percentage upgrades factored in.
this is true too, I only focused on the reputation points because it was a simpler way to figure out if i was in fact receiving the percentage upgrades. More exp points are great!
Thanks for all the feedback guys!
Ok, so taking into account all feedback so far:

Note: i only went up to 30% on each building because I heard something about a bonus at 30%? Can anyone verify this and perhaps provide specifics?
As you can see, you can no longer upgrade slots, xp or time any further. I have upgraded all 6 buildings to level 18, my current max, and all 6 buildings show the same occurence.
No additional bonus noticed.
