I've made the push 4 times, but set time limits for myself, because I didn't want to interfere with our clan wars. I've gotten within 50 trophies each time, but have yet to hit Masters. I know I would have, 3 of those times, if I didn't stop to make troops for my clan mates.
As one of about 4 billion well-advanced TH9s I'd say that ANTI HOG starts to become a necessity in Crystal. Below Crystal, it's a liability. Anti Hog bases are susceptible to standard attacks, like Giant-Healer, or Giant-Wizard. The extra space you have to leave to make Anti Hog work, will mean that your defenses can't multi-overlap.
I know that next time I make the push, I will be standard layout (probably a farming layout, honestly, because a huge number of the attacks you face in gold are from folks just trying to make a trophy push) until Crystal, and then anti-hog from there out.
But I'd also caution you to do your last hundred or so trophies all in one session, because when you near 2600, and you aren't a TH10, my experience is that you can expect to be attacked if you put your device down for even a couple of minutes. And every 1 star loss is going to cost you a good 30 minutes... a 3 star loss could cost you 4 hours of work.
I'm on confused too
i'm on 1800++ cups, the attacker from crystal always land in my base.
When i put anti hog base, regular attack like giant-healer, giant-hog, giant-wizard, and Barch keep coming & break the core.
When i switch to regular base, others combo do not make huge destruction except they are at full spell and have dual heroes, but the main problem is that lv 5 hog always come and you know the result
Can someone who experienced give me a logic suggestion on what base should i choose ?
The problem with this is because, when I make an anti-hog base, I get attacked by Giant-Healer
And when I change it to an anti-giant healer base, hogs attack me :(
Seeing as how you are th9, anti hog is the way to go for sure
