"Try new trophy range" is a myth

"I have been getting lucky at Gold II yesterday"
"Seems pretty good at Crystal III today"
"Try climbing in trophies, you might find better loot at xxxx"
"Loads of inactive in Gold I at the moment, you should try it out"

These are some of the general feedback on the forums. Myths.

There is no "perfect" trophy range in terms of inactive bases hunting. You are best of fishing at a range, with people around your own town hall level. So if you are TH9, find an area where you won't bump into any TH7s or below (or at least very few). Obviously if you go relatively high, like Masters, the amount of inactive bases will decrease. But it's my experience, that there are just as many inactive bases in Crystal II, III as in Gold II and III.

The only factor that plays in, the amount of inactive bases "released" by Supercell. We know they're holding them back, placing them at the end of the queue, and released when the pool gets too dry. There are good days - bad days - lucky days - but no trophy range is generally better for picking of inactive bases in the typical farming zone (Gold-Crystal). People spend WAY too much time trying new ranges. As long as you haven't pushed too far beyond or dropped too low, it' doesn't matter at what range you're farming.

Spoken like someone who hasn't been trying the 1900-2100 range today.

Not totally true. From experience, inactive bases are targeted by more developed and smart attackers, usually resulting in a win and they get continuously pushed down, again and again (this process would take a few weeks, depending on the type of base), especially if they were a farmer or a premie. Eventually, they get pushed to about Silver League where (from experience) they hover, not gaining enough to move to Gold, or losing enough to fall to Bronze. Why? Because the sub200 farming community will immediately push them up the lower they fall. Of course, higher TH players such as TH7/8/9/10 could potentially hover at Gold, Crystal and (possibly) Masters. I have found that at Gold and above the amount if inactive players drops significantly (by inactive I mean by full collectors) and they, as I said before, hover at Silver. This is my theory, but if anyone wants to object go ahead :)

PS. This only applies to, roughly, TH5-8 inactives.

Well, first of "higher TH players such as TH7/8/9/10". Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. But TH7-8 is not higher TH players. Loot has never been an issue for those town halls.

I'm gonna flip your argument saying, that people attacking inactive bases, will often have an army of BARCH or BAM and don't care about getting the 50%. So I REALLY doubt you will ever see an inactive TH9-10 being pushed all the way down to silver. I don't even believe these bases will fall out of crystal.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. What I meant was the inactive TH9/10 farmer/premmies would fall to Silver, and the developed TH9/10 would hover around Gold, Crystal or Masters. Also, it doesn't matter if an inactive earns trophies, eventually once they hit Gold or so everyone will swarm that base as at Gold getting a decent collector raid is quite scarce (from experience, might not apply for everyone) and getting at least one-starred is really common by BARCH and BAM. Also, this is a general overview of what I think, I could be wrong. Ignoring what I've said, I agree with the rest of your statement.

Also, what do you mean by that Supercell is holding back inactives? What my theory is that there are so many inactives Supercell has to hold back the amount of inactive bases from being attacked or else the ratio of inactives to actives would be 3:2 or something.

This is firstly a game and secondarily expensive in the long run.

Exactly. Else there would be an over-flood of loot around. They've said so.

Exactly..these inactive bases don't remain in same leagues forever..they keep dropping low ..so every league contains these bases..jst a matter of patience
