Struggling to get Barb King to level 4 (TH8)

I'm residing at 1500-1650 trophies. I can't seem to achieve over 15k Dark Elixir before a TH9 rains down armaggeddon with either Balloonions (balloons level 6), Mass hogs or some kinda level 6 giant combo. I was also keeping the other resources down to be less of a target but that seems to only get me so far. I can't understand how I'm being hit so hard, I'm only at 1500 trophies and it's not like I am flooded with loot. I'd say I'm a 50% maxed TH8. What do you lot suggest? Prior to this I was sitting on 12k De for the past week and not once did anyone try to make claim to it. Today I decide to get the King to level 4 and I've been flattened 4 times already by level 6 troops. TH8's don't even try me so I know my base layout is not the problem. It's only TH9 with level 6 troops all the time. Townhall is exposed by the way.

It was the same problem for me before I got my lvl 8 walls now nearly noone trys going for my de.
My suggestion is trying to get the DE at once without logging off.

if your TH is exposed, how are u getting hit so much? if u got 12k u should be able to get the 3k with a few hours at most. sounds weird.

That is impossible for me lol. I've got bad light sensitivity so I pretty much am only able to look at digital screens for no more than a few minutes at a time.

The problem is I get to 16k then I get flattened and drop back to 15k. Then it takes like 3 raids to get 1k back and on the third I get flattened again and pushed back. So effectively whatever I'm gaining in 3 raids I'm losing in 1 raid.

ye if this is true id quit right now, as u go up you will never be able to save enough playing a few minutes at a time. lol

there are screen covers for people with ur condition.

Yes you are correct, can pull 400-500 a raid in silver, but I haven't been de raided for 2 weeks and working on hogs lvl 3....

Slow and steady and no complaints :)

Okey thats not bad if you can keep all your DE.

I love farming DE in gold 1 easy 1k de quite often,but you will lose it sometimes.

Here's a word with a TH8 who's almost maxed out the barb king (me!:cool:)
1: go to crystal
2: farm the DE with a anti hog base (like The Impossible or Tesseract)
3: Either......
ZAP the DE storage with 3 lightning spells and Barch the DE drills or.....
Use dragons, balloonains, or dragloonain to force your way to the DE

My 7-step guide to Dark Elixir farming as a TH8

1. Do sessions. Don't look at the screen the whole time. Press reload from time to time.
2. Use a couple of Giants and Wallbreakers (a long the side of the usual Barch/BAM)
3. Try to avoid TH9's and above. They can and will revenge you (3 stars)
4. Drop down a little (maybe just under 1400) when your session ends.
5. Place your Town Hall outside and decorate it nicely
6. Pray
7. Still get raided.

You'll profit. Fast or slow (reflecting your activeness). And if you get him to Level 5. Take a break, do some easy gold and elixir farming again. Or do minions. At some point they will look cheap.

I've hung out at 1400-1600 for most of my time at TH8 and haven't had an issue keeping DE (BK is currently at lvl 7). I also do the log off/on thing a lot while raiding, so it's not that. Maybe go just a bit lower?

Also, I know you say it's not your base layout, but could you post your base anyway? My base does a good job of repelling Lv6 barch raids. Don't get me wrong, my DE gets taken occasionally, but infrequently enough that I can build up enough DE through regular raiding. I only raid specifically for DE to put me over the top before starting an upgrade.

Also this when you get close if you are worried about it. Just move your finger around on the screen once a while, you don't have to watch the screen. You'll time out sometimes, but it takes some pretty bad luck to get raided before you reload the game.

I'm a TH 8, my solution was to push into crystal and then farm back (which may not seem like it makes sense, but I avoided zapping and lots of all out assaults on my base).... seemed to work. My BK is level 5 now.

TH7 myself with LVL5 Barb King already.. did it while BAG outside DE drills and using for the big fat interior DE storages (2.5K+ ) Lightning Stikes (hangs head in shame :o ) in Crystal league III for the most part. I got enough DE also to upgrade Hogs and minions to LVL2

Hmm I got my BK to 3 when I was a TH7 in Crystal 3, which is even harder than Gold 2. Got rampaged 3 starred by TH9 and 10s when I log off, so it shouldn't be a problem for you as a TH8 with lvl 5 troops compared to me.

I'm a th 7 just started focusing on upgrading barb king. Got him from 1 to 3 within a week or so using all dragons. It's expensive but it's also super easy. I was expecting to get hit more but I have only lost around 400 de per attack. Just have to hope someone snipes your town hall.
