Clan war donations - should count

That is a really bad explanation because it is easy to add up someones donation numbers based off what is donated. So rather than being hardcore, it becomes simplistic. Especially when everyone, but one person is donating a specific troop type. The person donating off would just have an odd number in comparison to everyone else.

Very simple math.

Well, there are many good reasons why this doesn't exist, but one that hasn't been mentioned is xp farming. For whatever reason, Supercell doesn't love people who try to boost their donation count/level (quite possibly because the reward for 25k donations is significant) and making war donations count would let people fill war ccs with giants over and over and over until they hit 25k donations.

More importantly from a clan perspective, 2 members in the clan could rig this up so that the donated giants, giants, and more giants to each other. This would be relatively difficult to catch if they were sneaky enough, and people could thus appear to be significant contributors to the clan without doing any real donations at all.

I'll bet this isn't ever changed. SC doesn't want to see ton of skewed player levels (bunch of TH 8 level 300). I'd say more but everything else has been said, not even going to try to argue beyond this lol.

Then have it only show a counter, just like in the clan info page. Doesn't have to affect experience or the Friend in Need achievement.

Change either the level to get the achievements or make the gem payout much less.
