How can I be more efficient in upgrading my base? I would like to know a way to fully optimize what I can until the next town hall upgrade if that makes sense. I guess I'd like to which stuff to upgrade first and what to leave alone.

What TH are you going up to?
If you want to max out your base efficiently, spread out your builders accordingly between upgrades so not only do your Defenses are at constant upgrade, but also so that you will be able to Farm for the next upgrade and also be able to do walls at the same time.
Always keep 1 builder free to upgrade walls....and I recommend maxing your base for every town hall...it helps a lot in the long run. hope this helps :) Clash on!
