Max drags and balloon.. Try to max defenses too then id go. Maxing will help a lot
max that splash and teslas!
I don't think you should jump to TH9 just yet.
You MUST max these:
- mortars
- wizard towers
- air defence
- the troops you use most
- the spells you use most
You SHOULD max these:
- teslas
- archer towers
- the troops you intend to use soon
- the spells you intend to use soon
You SHOULD upgrade these:
- barracks
- all walls to purple
Pros: A maxed TH 8 looks awesome, it'll be easier at TH 9. it'll take less time to max TH 9.
Cons: Takes forever. You'll probs get full gold and elixir before your TH upgrade is over which will make you a good target for TH 9s.

stay at th8 a bit longer, I'm about a month away from upgrading to th9 and i already have a lvl 10 barb king and 195 purple walls and 30 skulls. just tough it out and like everyone else has said, you'll have a better time when you first touch down at th9
Max everything, but purple walls should do. But skulls are nice to look at:p
