I saw that variable too. That was the reason I looked into this actually

Steve, Marika anyone else from Supercell .... are we barking up the right tree?
Ok, Rauta has made it very clear in the past that something along these lines was coming. I think it is possible that this whole thread is jumping the gun, but either way this will be HUGE. It will change the entire game, especially for high level farmers.
If trophies really do become more valuable when tied to loot, I wonder where exactly the sweet spot will be. Something tells me that staying a little lower, but certainly not as much as now, will still be the route to go. Why go up to the top (or as high as you can go) if you will only be facing maxxed TH 8s or non-premature TH 9s when you can hang out in the second or third "league" and just kick back some more on the Th 7s.
Of course this is all speculation, but I think it could be a realistic possibilty. Farmers will always be resource focused, and I am not convinced, at least not by those numbers ALONE, that going to the highest trophy count you can will be the most profitable way to go. That being said, I think this would be a tremendous improvement.
Everyones presumably going to go up in trophies, so it won't just be maxed th8/9 with high trophies. I'd hope there would be enough incentive for everyone to go up in trophies as high as they can, thus the maxed 8s/9s would be at a trophy count unattainable to th7s
I wonder what the leagues are?
That is what I mean. This will convert the vast majority of non-forumers, at least in the beginning, into pure trophy hunters. I think after clear boundaries between TH 7 and TH 8/9 trophy ranges are set up, the entire grid will slide down a little so as to still pick on the little guys with a slight penalty.
The thing is, though, that they could circumvent this theoretical turn of events if they KEPT some sort of TH based loot penalty. If they did that, which now that I think about seems realistic, then that takes away the way out. They could strenghten them so that it becomes either unprofitable, or at least relatively unprofitable, to attack lower Th levels. They could get away with this because there would then be a legitimate way to get resources off of those with equivalent/higher Th levels. This has enormous potential.
If these are indeed multipliers and trophies do replace TH level as the criteria for loot penalty, then it would accomplish exactly what you're saying on both ends of the spectrum. On top of that it would be a far more efficient way to end farming than the current system ever was.
