I've been sitting 1400-1800 for a few weeks now as TH8 and seen decent bases for farming. I'm not finding inactives, but plenty of TH7 or lower level TH8 I can barch right through and pick up 60-100+k. Get those raids within a max of 5-10 nexts at most. Average around 2-3 mil per 2 hrs of boosted barracks. Not the best as some people claim (4-6mil/hr) but its solid and keeps my 5 builders busy.
Ex: I farmed maxed (for TH8) Wizard towers, mortars, and started on all point defense and AD upgrades in the last month. I'll be starting two L5 Teslas today and have my L3 PEKKA upgrade ongoing, BK went from 1-5 in about a month, saving up for minion upgrades now, currently sitting on 3.9 mil gold and 2.7 mil elixer.
Also my clan wars 2-3 times a week as well and the other Co and I fill all 45 war CCs with high level troops so that's not too bad consider I blow about 3 mil elixer on wars 2-3 times a week.

TH8 loot is amazing at any range, besides Silver I think. Typically just stick to either Gold League or if you want DE, go to Crystal. TH7 and TH8 are the Loot Havens for any player in Clash

Town hall 8 farming
I am finding the best area for Town Hall 8 farming is 1600-1750 trophies. Quite a few nice collector raids up there.
On a different matter, another way to get loot is to switch servers. The way you do this is in the bottom left corner there is a settings button. Click it, and in the middle there should be an languages icon. It you click on it and change to a different language, yes you're on a different language but your also on a different server. All different servers have players using that server. I find the Norweigan and Dutch server have the most loot.
I understand that it changes the language, but it you only change it when you raid and then switch it back again it's not a big problem at all.
I hope supercell fix the loot problem. It's getting kind of ridiculous. You have to spend a stupid amount searching just to find a mediocre raid. It's literally the only down sight to an almost impeccable game.
Possible solutions to the loot problem. These are ways that I think could generate a bit more loot to go around.
1. Bigger loot bonuses. I know in champion you get quite alot, but maybe make the bonus to do with the amount you steal. For example, 15% of how much you loot you steal, you get back in bonus.
2. Reduce the prices of upgrades. Simple really.
3. Make gold/elixir easier / cheaper to buy with gems. This could be changed that either gems are easier to find, or resources are cheaper to purchases using gems.
