Guide for the new forum user-READ BEFORE POSTING
Welcome to the Clash of Clans Community forums!
Everyone would love to get to know you, whether you're new or old to the game, so if you like you may post a self-intro here. We look forwards to your contributions towards the community and hope you'll learn something in the process. :)
USE SEARCH BAR
Before posting an issue, question or thread, ALWAYS check if one has already been created and if it is still active. Chances are, there are a couple or more threads that are similar or address the same topic you are wishing to post. By using the search bar, not only are you preventing spam on the forums, you get your answer quicker than waiting for another user to respond. A win-win situation!
The search bar is just on the top right corner of your screen.
THINK before you post, be DESCRIPTIVE and CLEAR
This forum is not a place for posting whenever you feel like it. Think before you post and BE CLEAR AND DESCRIPTIVE.
Examples of threads and titles that have lack of detail include and more:
Boring....
What??!!...
NOOOOO!!!
HELP!!!!
If you wish to post photos, create an album.
If you wish to make a blog, search around in Google, Yahoo, Bing (etc) and find a blog creator.
If you wish to ask a question, be CLEAR, give ALL DETAILS, give EVIDENCE and use the SEARCH BAR BEFORE POSTING.
If you wish to start a discussion, be CLEAR, give ALL DETAILS, give EVIDENCE and ACKNOWLEDGE OTHER USERS.
If you have a message just for a specific user, PM THEM.
DO NOT MINI-MOD
(Will be clarified so people understand better)
DO NOT CALL ANOTHER USER’S THREAD OR POST “SPAM”
99% of the time another user’s thread or post have been called spam, the post/thread may have been not spam. By calling another user's post/thread spam and not contributing to the topic yourself, YOU ARE SPAMMING.
The definition of spam FOR THIS FORUM is:
- Lack of information and effort placed into a thread/post
- Unnecessary post/thread
- Repeatedly posting the same thing over, whether parroting another user or repeating yourself
If you see someone whom seems to be spamming, pm them and politely tell them. If they refuse to listen AND repeatedly do it again, pm a forum moderator and they'll deal with it.
If you DO NOT wish for arguments or disagreements, DO NOT POST A THREAD
The forums are a place for discussion and a place for users to freely express themselves, for both agreements and disagreements. If you do not want disagreements, DO NOT POST A THREAD. Simple as that.
If you DO NOT want a specific member to see a thread, DO NOT POST ONE
Threads such as “(user) don’t look)” and it turns out to be one negatively talking behind a user’s back is NOT ACCEPTED. You are free to post a thread as long as it abides by the rules, however, you are not allowed to tell who is allowed to view or comment. EVERYONE IS ALLOWED, THIS IS A PUBLIC FORUM.
DO NOT parrot (repeat) another member’s post
ALWAYS read through the thread and posts BEFORE commenting on it. Users who repeat, paraphrase or add little information with the copied post will have their post erased. However, you are free to clarify or add information to one that has already been said WITHOUT EXACTLY OR ALMOST PARROTING ITS POINT.
DO NOT publicly report a user
If you have an issue with a user on the forums, pm a forum moderator. DO NOT PUBLICLY POST A THREAD ABOUT HOW THEY SHOULD BE STOPPED. If they are trolling and/or breaking rules, do NOT respond to them and give attention they seek. A report button under the post may also be used to report a user. DO NOT ABUSE THE REPORT BUTTON.
POST IN THE CORRECT-SUB FORUM
There is NO excuse for posting in the correct sub-forum, and unfair for those whom post correctly. Any threads posted in the incorrect sub forum will be moved by moderators/staff. Repetition of the behavior will not be tolerated and the threads may not be moved again for your convince. If you are confused what sub-forum to post in, feel free to pm a user to ask or search around for clarification.
If you aren’t going to respond to posters, don’t post a thread.
There have been many occasions where many kind Clashers have offered their advice or thoughts, and their posts not acknowledged. This turns the discussion/advice to become one-sided and doesn’t let the poster know if they helped you or not or that their advice may need to be touched up. Do a favor and respond to as much posters as you can, not just “you’re amazing, thank you” compliments that make your pride happy. If you are making a thread and only bump it, post it and ignore other posters, your thread may be deleted.
People who respond to you and help you are doing YOU a favor
Remember, it is YOUR privilege that they have volunteered to help you or contribute in your discussion. It is not THEIR privilege or duty to respond or help you and see your “incredible” thread/post. Be patient, polite and help out by clarifying things if they ask for it. Remember to thank everyone who helped, whether their advice worked or not as they kindly responded to you when they could’ve done something else.
Be honest and LISTEN to what users have to say for your work or other's work. DO NOT CONVEY IT AS "BASHING" for criticizing remarks made
There is a difference between "bashing" and "criticism". "Bashing" is to insult a user, to pick out their wrongs without any information on how a user could fix their work. Criticism is when remarks are made on your mistakes and how you can improve it. If you are not willing to accept criticism for your work, then your work is going to be terrible as other writings will improve, grow and flourish thanks to the criticism.
Please don't over-do "thank-you" and "this thread is awesome" when a thread or post is inaccurate or has lack of information. Save it for the ones who really deserve it (and for some reason, don't seem to get appreciation as much).
If there is any questions or clarifications required for the forum rules, or other forum issues you wish to address, feel free to post below and I'll respond to you as soon as possible. Thanks! :)
