Please, it enables to decide us before the wars or maybe even on the preparatory day whether one takes part in the wars or not.
Unfortunately, there is Clan-inside over and over again annoyance because of the participation or not participation :(
It would be better if everybody from the clan can decide whether he in the war takes part or not.
Yeah I wish people could chose or even the clan leader could chose who goes into clan wars and who doesn't. In my clan there is usually about 5 out of our 25 people in clan wars who don't participate or are gone for the clan wars making the other clan win
I think this would be great and even beneficial to the clan...
Although not ideal there are 2 ways to opt out of wars:
1. Leave the clan just before war is declared then re-join after a match has been found.
2. If your clan has 39 members the bottom 4 trophy levels get excluded. Drop your level to be at the bottom and you wont be eligible for the war.
I agree that the clan leader (which I am) should have the ability to choose , lets say up to 4 players, not to participate. However I am sure other clans have the same issues.
Supercell what do they say in addition? We need here urgently a solution.

Definitely needed as some people know they won't be around, but don't want to leave the clan just to not gimp the war.
Also, it gives leaders the ability to know that people are cognizant of the war. Because clan mail is so limited and people might be on at different times and miss something in chat log, this aspect is hurting clan morale.
We have lost members because they don't want to war. My only reason for not wanting them there, is because they hurt us in terms of war.
I've been thinking the same thing. In my clan there are bunch of people who don't want to participate in wars. They usually leave before prep day starts and come back later but there are always 1 or 2 who forget to leave or happen to be busy when it would be to leave. Some of them have actually left the clan because of the wars but that's not what we want. If you've been a member of certain clan for ages you probably would like to stay.
I also like the idea that clan leaders could exclude players from war. Now we kick players out after two inactive wars although we're not too happy to do that. That's just something that needs to be done at the moment.
Supercell, please give us an option to exclude ourselves from clan wars!
Maybe one could choose on the preparatory day whether one takes part or not, and then if the uppermost opponent the war map of the opponent was not lost in each case.
Or one selects in general in his settings whether one in the next war takes part or not.

I donate 2k troops daily, we war every day, or second day, its cutting into my donations, elixir, gems and upgrades. I cannot do both, but I feel the pressure to do so. I even felt like leaving my clan due to it.
Our clan has turned from being fun to obligatory, although our leader doesn't see it this way, it feels like it with the pressure to fight, and he doesn't kick for not participating, but you can hear it in his voice "typing", that he wants to win, like most of us who do participate and spent a good amount on dragons, golems pekkas etc, not only for attack, but for the CW CC.
This isn't right, cwars should be for fun, but many leaders don't look at it this way, as previously stated, leaders are kicking and people are leaving. Being in a clan now is far too serious.
We need an opt out button that stays until you opt in. If you opt in when matchmaking has found a war, then you are too late obv and have to wait 2 days to get into the next war, but ofc something might come up in life and you need to opt out, welp, there it is, the good old opt out button.
Should be an opt out option just incase your afk for awhile. You shouldn't have to leave your clan or drop all your trophy's. People do get busy with their lives or go on vacation. And the clan or them shouldn't suffer because of it
I love this clan war but it is impossible to participate all the times. opt out function for individual please!
I truly agree with everything happening here in this thread. I am clan leader also and I know my competitive clan mates are getting real frustrated with other clan mates that just want to hang out, build their villages and donate troops. This does need to be addressed and fixed in the next update. How do we get the developers attention on this?
Recommendation: Each player should be able to participate in the war if they want to. Additionally, I'm not sure how many need to be present for a war, but I would move that number down to 10 so that you need at least 10 to go to war with another clan. That way, we can all live in harmony--this lack of resolution is a real deal breaker!

While waiting for them to address this, you can simply create a feeder clan and have the people that dont participate move there. Granted this is for larger clans and you have to plan well and have people you trust to help run the other clan, but this is the easiest way right now. We did this when CW's started and its worked perfectly. Even tenured members will go over there if they are going to be out of town or need a break. GLQuote:

On the preparatory day one chooses participation or not.
If somebody does not take part, an opponent on the war map from completely on top (strongest ones) gets out of the map et cetera.
Thus the number of the attackers and opponents is right again always.

It would certainly be a nice idea or addition to have people opt out. It's kind of like how it would be extremely beneficial to be able to remove someone who left during prep day or during war who's attacks will go unused, and replacing them with someone who is in the clan and active.
It's never fun when someone decides to leave during war, leaving two attacks unused. A substitute or an opt out feature would be very helpful to clan wars.
The original post is not simple enough, should be :
--Leader hits button to request war participants.
--Up to 24 hours for members to "opt" in, by simply hitting a button on the clan list or whatever.
--Leader can choose to start war at any time with currently opted in. Obviously you'll need a minimum amount of players.
-- if there are extra and it needs to be rounded, leader gets to choose which players to chop from that roster. This is ONLY possible when there is a overage from the rounding by 5.
-- Matchmaking process begins with all those who have opted in
-- war proceeds as usual.
Players should be the only ones able to opt themselves in/out.
However, when starting the war process if there is say 27, the leader chooses who to chop to make the 25 round. He cannot have a roster of 27 and then chop 7, he can only chop the overage.
Thats should be added. Although, if it would happen to be if everyone quit what would happen then?
The optout button during preparation day is a terrible idea. The option of participating in war or not needs to be added, but it should be set before the war is declared. Clan members who will be unavailable (we all have real lifes too) or just don't like war can set it so they wont be in any declared war. When they become available for war again they toggle that option.
Currently I leave my clan or drop to below 200 trophies when I will be unavailable. Nice to farm the farmers who are still farming down there.... lol

Lets look at the draw backs of each.
Drawbacks to Opting Out
A major drawback of players opting out (choosing to NOT enter the clan war) is that inactive players won't opt out and you don't want those players in the war. I believe that even low activity players won't always opt out and then not participate in the war. An opt out solution only deals well with active players that don't want to participate.
Drawbacks to both Opt In and Opt Out
A drawback with both opting in and opting out is the timing of it. If opting in/out is done for each war, it is best to allow a 24 hour window for clicking that button before the match making process begins. This makes the war duration go from 2 days to 3 days and no one will like an increase in time. The only way to deal with that problem is to cut the opt in/out time down to 12 hours and the war prep time to 12 hours, but those solutions have their own problems.
The alternative to opting in/out for each war is a toggle for opt in / opt out that maintains its setting until you switch it back. This isn't too bad, but I think it lacks the simplicity SuperCell strives to achieve in CoC. Players may forget to toggle their opt in/out setting and either miss a war that they wanted to be in or forget to opt out before going away. SuperCell wants this game to be as simple as possible and I don't think this option hits the mark.
As a side note, I don't see a problem with too many people opting in (in other words an amount that doesn't exactly equal an increment of 5). The same rule that currently exists can easily be implemented in this case: drop the lowest according to trophy count to make it an even increment of 5.
Drawbacks to Leader Choosing War Participants
As a side note, co-leaders should also be able to have this power since the concept of a co-leader is to provide a backup to the leader in the event that he is gone.
A drawback to a leader choosing the participants is that only an small group of elite members are chosen to go to war and other willing members are left out. I don't really see that as a big issue since people will simply leave that clan and go find another clan that allows active members to participate in the war.
Another drawback is that leaders may use the ability to participate in a clan war as a disciplinary action (i.e. for not donating enough) or a privilege to be earned (i.e. for new members). Either way I don't really have a problem with this. Again, players that don't like the way a leader leads can find a different clan. I believe that many clans will try to attract members by insuring that they can participate in the next clan war. It will become a good selling point for joining the clan.
Obviously my vote goes for leaders choosing who goes to war. The setting could be in the menu that allows leaders to kick and promote. Just add a setting to make that member a "spectator". The setting is permanent until the leader changes it. In the list of members, an icon could show up instead of the crossed swords that represents "spectator". This allows everyone in the clan to quickly and easily see who will be participating and who will be spectating in the next war. Time would not be a problem with the war sequence. this option solves the problems mentioned above in the other two options. The overall war time would still be 48 hours as it is currently. Inactive players would be dealt with as much as possible. They could be set as spectators by the leader waiting for them to show back up and let him know they are ready to join the war. The potential problems with this option seem to be far less than the problems with the other two options and are easy to deal with.

Opting out isn't a problem for us, if you are inactive or don't donate the minimum per season, you're kicked. Everyone in our clan is active, that's not the problem, some of us just cant afford to war daily, donate and upgrade. We might want to take a break from war for a couple days to recuperate lost elixir/DE because of the previous war. There is no drawback for having an optout. It's a necessity.Quote:

It is what it is. Of you are inactive in our clan you get the boot plain and simple.
If you give this option then they will only send their elite players in to war. This is a team battle the good with the bad.
Weve ve had up to 6 members not raid at all in clan war and we still pulled through other member took up the slack
Choose your members wisely. We clean house after every war. Put up or shut up.
16 staright clan war wins 0 losses. We are a laid back clan also. We just all decided to cut back to one war a week to make it easier on everybody occasionally we will do 2-3 a week.
I agree, one should be able to decide if they can participate or not.
There is really no way to make everybody happy. What if somebody doesn't see that they're planning a war and doesn't get to say he's in? Then he just misses out? There's too many contingencies, just find a clan that wars when u want to.

This is a much needed feature. However it also needs to be modified slightly so that when declaring a war the leader/Co declaring war can also decide to not include people in the war. This would resolve the issue of a clan member not being around to opt out on their own.
It is, primarily, about it such a function is absolutely necessary in which way one can look then.

lets face it...the hardest thing to build a clan was to organize the clan itself. so for those who start the clan war need to be prepare the player involve in clan war. i think that the duty of leader or co-lead to make sure the player before starting the war. it not easy but there's the challenge for us to win the clan war. eventhough there is a player left when the war is begin , manages the war member attack is the key factor to win.
Supercell...This is a firm request to do something about the participating issue.
It really gets very annoying that clanwars are lost due to members who are not participating.
And I can not blame the ones who do not participate so now and than due to holiday or else.
Just make it possible for each member to switch on/off participation with clanwars.
It can be possible just by making a toggle switch in members profile...How easy is this to make an update for it!!!!

Its not fun anymore to play clanwars!!!! I actually starting to dislike it bc of loosing all the time because some do not participate!!!
you even could also make it possible for leaders to choose who will participate!!!!!!

Been waiting for this feature since Clan Wars was released!
I wholeheartedly agree that this option would be phenomenal.... But, seeing how SuperCell just this year spent unknown bazillion dollars and man hours creating clan wars, i think it unlikely they would immediately turn around and create an option to bypass it.
Still, we can wish for it.
