Things you need to know when using Barch!
1-you're a farmer so the TH is out the money is protected (farming base)
2-Trophies you don't need them just find a good range of trophies where you can get good loot (from TH6 to TH8 950-1400 has been good for me)
3-you have to max out the barb and the archer with maybe a rage and heal spell (most of the time you don't look after a base where the all the loot are in the storages if it was well protected, so spells you "might" need them)
2 baracks of each just look for collector bases just made 600k gold in 8 minutes with it
I use barch and i am currently between 1200-1400 trophies. I am also a brand new th8 so I've been farming for a lot of elixir. I'm usually very happy if I can grab 150,000+ elixir. I boost barracks sometimes when the lab is finishing up and upgrade. Are my expectations too low?

I sit around 1500 trophies
I run 100/100 barb/archers (just two barracks of each, trains in 20 min)
I take 3 lightning spells (good for zapping storages in the middle if they are clumped, or for taking out builder huts to hit 50% if you dont quite make it)

The actual act of barching is pretty mindless. The trick is all in the base selection. You can next over and over again until you find an obvious fat collector raid, but you don't have to. I can't stand spending tons of time nexting and at certain times of day the fat collector raids just aren't out there. It is pretty easy to find 100k/100k collector raids even when the collectors don't show the "I have stuff in me" graphic. Also, keep in mind that high level storages show up as being empty even when there is quite a bit of gold in them. A 100k/100k raid is a succesful barch raid as long as you don't next forever since your army is pretty cheap. BTW, I never have found a need to use spells. The idea is fast and cheap.
The first thing to look for is obviously the amount of gold/elixer available. People usually have elixer pumps and gold mines at a similar level so if you see 70,000 elixer and 150,000 gold, you probably aren't getting more than 50-60k gold from the mines.
Another thing to look out for is lower level storages. When people move to TH9 for example, they get another storage. Even the mid level storages show up as being full even when there is a miniscule amount of gold available from them. If you see a lvl 6 storage that is less than full and a lot of gold available, its in the collectors!!!
Of course, the key tipoff is the dark elixer drills. They fill up much much faster then gold mines. If the de drill isn't full, the owner has come around somewhat recently and cleaned everything out. I never do a barch raid with less than full de drills no matter how much loot is avaiable. Its all in the storages!!
It is also easy to find someone who put their storages behind just one level of walls thinking the mortar on the other side of it will keep archers away. WRONG!!! Barch totally overwhelms the defenses. It will be shooting in all directions, leaving the gold storages unguarded for up to 10 seconds at a time. This is more than enough time for archers to pick it clean, especially when the defenses are all shooting at the sacrificial barbs in front of them.
If you are worried about winning, barch is a guaranteed one star if you are disciplined. Being disciplined means spreading the barbs and archers out all around the base, not clumping them together in front of the de drills. The idea behind it is to overwhelm the defenses, not bunch your troops together so one wiz twr can take out 30 archers.
Best to master the finger(s) drag deployment....place a line of barbs down one side and place a line of archers behind it. As the man said, you can pretty much 1 star 8s and down with this approach. Quick, mindless stuff --- learn to read the collectors and fill yer coffers.:)
Ive been barching for over 8 months now and when I'm pushing i use 100 barbs rest archers. When im farming i do 1 barrack barbs 1 barrack with 20 barbs rest archers and 20 barracks archers(use minions sometimes too). When farming just try to get to the storages/collectors(i use heros to get into base) and i only use light spell
