in my opinion the best option to save elixir is a barb/archer combination. otherwise known as a barch. I use 100 barbs, 100 archers and use about 30k elixir. I constantly find bases that have 200k+ in the collectors around the outside of the base making them the easiest to attack. hope that helps
The absolute best troop composition to save elixir would be BAM, but it will cost a bit of DE. Use 60 barbs, 80 archers, 30 minions.
The second best would be BARCH. Use 90 barbs, 110 archers.
