Mercenaries: New Play Style?
Have you ever felt the need to raid someone with a lot of loot but couldn't because you didn't want to afford getting revenge killed?
Well here is a (probably controversial) idea I thought up: THE MERCENARIES
Now I know that most of you are thinking that this is just another call for type of troop but it goes much deeper than that. The mercenary is not a troop rather it is a new game mechanic that would gave Clash of Clans 3 separate types of players: Raiders, Farmers and now Mercenaries.
Mercenaries are real-life players that can be sent a 'Writ' (or letter) by another player. The player that marks a base to get attacked by a Mercenary is known as the Taskmaster.
To set yourself up for a Mercenary through a new addition to the Town Hall called the Tavern which allows you to place yourself as a Mercenary or send a Request to a possible Mercenary. Mercenaries are picked randomly depending on:
A) The comparison of their Trophy Level
B) The TH Level
C) Existing Heroes/# of Heroes
This helps to make sure that (for example) a player that's lvl 14 cannot ask a lvl 90+ member to attack a lvl 20 base for them.
Mercenaries are players that accept in-game requests to raid certain bases using a certain number of Assassins which are placed in the Town Hall rather than the Clan Castle. These reserve troops are placed in another separate compartment of the Town Hall called the Bunker which holds any troops given by the Taskmaster. These troops are not released when a player is raided as their purpose is entirely different than that of protecting your base. When a Mercenary successfully completes a raid given by another player they receive bonus loot (stacked on to the loot given for League Level) for 3-Starring the base. This also gives the other player any and all loot you received from attacking the base (with trophies withheld as the player did not raid the base). It is possible to revenge kill Mercenaries but not the Taskmaster. The Taskmaster must provide a fee to ensure that the Mercenary receives some form of payment for his/her services if they are unable to 3-Star the base. The Mercenary when initiating the battle will not be able to surrender to ensure that they don't just stop the raid to get the pre-payed loot without any repercussions to themselves.
The benefits for adding Mercenaries are:
- Low-level players possibly being able to win matches against high-level players
- Mercenaries will find matchmaking more suited to their skill sets rather than hope for decent bases at random
- Taskmasters can avoid being revenge killed
- Better chance for both parties to receive decent loot
