Goblins are great for farming, although they aren't very good against wizard towers.
Well they are not extinct, I use them every single raid while farming and mine is not even Level 6 yet.
I just used 25 goblins in an attack and they helped me get 1250 DE. #Savethegoblins

Goblins have saved my butt many times during raids. I owe it to the goblin race.

Clan wars killed farming, and thus killed goblins.
When I farm I use gobs lvl2.

I am currently upgrading my Goblins instead of some other more useful troops for only one reason --- I only had enough Elixir for his upgrade (was still using Giant-Healer combo then).
