Getting my Barbarian King to lvl 5

I'm currently a TH7 and I have a lvl 3 Barbarian King. It was pretty tough to save up the DE(Lots of lightning spells, sorry to you guys who shun the use of DE zapping) and I really wanted to get hi mto lvl 5 before going to TH8. The Iron Fist ability looks really useful and while it may not be so good at lvl 5, its still the highest I can take him at TH7. So, I'm going to TH8 right now and I just wanted to ask whether I should try and steal a bunch of DE to get him to lvl 4, or wait to get the DE drill, and then take him there. I heard the DE drill was very efficient at pumping and it puts relief on you as far as getting DE goes. From my opinion, it looks like the DE drill takes a LONG time to pump it out(Assuming that mine will be lvl 1 and will stay lvl 1 for a while). Suggestions?

I found it much easier to get DE at TH 8 the drill helps loads id recommend you max it ASAP I did and it helps (45 DE/hour - lvl 3) keep upgrading farm gold and elixir for the new buildings and walls youll get him to lvl 5 in no time!

That depends. If your losing a lot of gold looting time by trying to get max DE then you should focus on maxing walls instead. But if everything's maxed and your builders are waiting around for your th then might as well go for it

I never really struggle with de and i dont focus on it. What i would do is farm like normal but if you see exposed de drills with some de in the back, snipe it

Here is the question! Are you willing to be destroyed everytime you log off? If so, do it. DE is best in crystal (for TH7s) so then just snipe there and go crazy!! If not, don't bother

I waiting till TH 8 to farm my BK to 10... its WAYYY easier than TH 7 farming DE...

I understand where you are coming from, im 100% against zapping on my th9 account. However on my th7 account its too hard to get a lot of de without getting looted so i had to resort to zapping. In my opinion it may be easier to get him to 5+ as a th8 because youd have the better defenses and troops to help with de. Goodluck with whatever you choose

I enjoyed farming for DE at TH 7 about as much as anything else I've done. Clicked "upgrade" for BK lvl 5 right before I did the same for my TH lvl 7. Never did lightning the DE storage. Twice a day I'd have an army of 8 dragons 40 archers and 3 lightning. Take out one AD with the lightning (3 lvl 4 lightning will take out one lvl 5 AD) deploy archers, BK, CC near a 2nd AD and all dragons near the third. If their was a 4th, I'd just make sure i could get to DE storage first - or at least try to, sometimes drags didn't follow directions. Get 1,000 - 1,500 DE a pop (got as much as 3,000 on revenges) Didn't win every attack but won enough to keep trophy count up. Just barched for elixir in between dragon attacks. Attack mostly lvl 9 & 10 THs so they couldn't get as much back on revenges.
It is amazing how many people don't upgrade their ADs. Hit some lvl 10s that only had ADs at lvl 2 or 3.
I just took it as a challenge to have BK at 5 before I went to TH 8. Just started my journey for BK 10 at TH8. :cool:

I'm also working on maxing my BK to Level 5 on my TH7 Mini.

It must have slipped my mind that zapping is a possibility, lol.

Well, when I was townhall 7 i just skipped my barb king all together. I rushed the rest of my defences and walls as well so I was a premmie. I suggest going up to gold 1 or crystal like everyone suggests. I used barch to get my barb king and archer queen and it didn't take too long to get them up to level 6 and 2.

before TH9, no need to farm DE on purpose

Ever thought about why you get your DE so slowly is because you rely on zapping? I got my King to level 5 on TH7 only by raiding (minus one or two revenge-zaps on TH9s who steamrolled me, but I didn't zap for the profit there, just to ♥♥♥♥ them off).

Go up into Gold II, if you can Gold I even, and raid that DE. I'm currently able to get about 10k DE per day with ease (15-30 attacks, really depending on what I can find) while I just farm for gold but I raid these full drills too if they come across. (I'm TH9 now, but the TH7 barch should get you close to that as well)

Even at TH8 with a level 3 drill it's still going to take a while to get the 20k elixir to get to BK level 5. A level 3 drill gets 45 DE an hour, so working 24 hours a day it will get you 1,080 DE, which means 18.5 days to get the 20k DE that you need. Oh, and that's assuming that nobody raids you for your DE along the way, which they almost certainly will.

Realistically the best way to get DE at TH8 is by raiding, you can get an entire days worth of production from your drill with just one decent raid. Without working too hard at it I can get 8-10k of DE a day in Gold 3, from what most people say the loot is even better higher up. So if you devote a weekend to raiding for DE you can get level your BK up, as opposed to about 3 weeks of drilling for it. Sounds like a pretty easy decision to me.

Don't worry about it. The amount of dark elixir you find at th7 and th8 is pretty similar and the drill helps a lot more than you think.
