How many people feel that a fourth builder is necessary? Or maybe even a fifth? I have three and am pretty content, but am wondering if that fourth builder will actually give me an edge.

Depends where you are at, I'm just about max TH9, and I no longer need 4, as I've only got my heroes to do, but I really loved having 4 when I had a lot to do, I really considered a 5th
I couldn't imagine life without 5 builders. On the other hand, I have friends at TH8 who can barely keep 4 going. So, how active are you? Do you find yourself with full storages often? Do you care how quickly you progress through the game?
I found that 4 was perfect for me. When I was too busy with real life, I could raid enough to keep 4 builders busy. When I could raid a lot, the rotation of the 4 builders becoming available a day or two apart usually let me dump my gold on walls before my storages completely filled.
It also rarely left me gimped by having too many key defences being upgraded simultaneously as some players with 5 builders experience, so my defenses usually held up ok in terms of protecting my resources.
I know I could've progressed faster with 5 builders always busy, but I bet my walls would have suffered because I would trying to keep all 5 builders working all the time. Also, I don't care to rush through this game, having steady progress is good enough for me, I want to enjoy this game to its full potential, which is also why I'm maxing (up to TH9 at least, not going to max lvl 30 heroes or lvl 10 walls) each town hall.
also couldnt imagine not having 5 builders. rarely find it difficult to keep them all bussy. though i drop 5 bucks every now and then for boosting.
Only spend gems on builders until you have 5. why you ask? because everything else can be gotten without gems..Quote:

If you can keep up with your farming speed to keep them all busy, it's certainly worth it and it'll speed up your base by a lot. If you can barely keep up keeping 3 busy, then you shouldn't worry about a 4th or even 5th.
Although, a constant free builder to instantly bump your extra gold into walls to reduce loss when being raided is also an option, but then again it's not a must-have.
That's all the logic that you need to worry about when considering buying another builder.
I have 4 builders at an almost maxed TH 7 and i think that at the point in the game where you would get this many builders you wont' need them long enough that 5 would be necessary. I think that if for some reason you were possessed to spend 30 bucks on the game right away for 5 it would be convenient for the first few THs but at the same time your walls would greatly suffer so in my opinion once you progress far enough to legitimately get that 3rd builder you can go ahead and buy the 4th but the 5th is a wastee of money.
I would definitely recommend getting your 4th and 5th builder, but not by spending money to get the gems. Since the recent update came out, you get a lot more gems from destroying obstacles. Just save up those, and whatever gems you get from achievements, and the gems from gem boxes! Also, try and push to master, and champions league;I am TH8 and made it to master, which gave me my 4th builder.
After a while, you will have enough gems to get your builder, they definitely help a lot! I have 4, and am 38 gems away from my 5th builder. Having the 4th builder lets me keep 3 builders busy upgrading things, and the 4th on walls, or if you suddenly get tons of resources and need to upgrade something (like lots of DE, so then upgrade BK or DE troops in lab).
So yes, I recommend getting your 4th builder.
My mom got me a free iTunes gift cards from redeeming some points, so I got my 4th and 5th builder because I didn't want to buy resources because that's cheap in my opinion.Quote:
