I'm a coleader, and sometimes the current character limit does not allow me to get everything I need to say out.
so I'm suggesting a higher character limit so that clan leaders can be able to fully explain things they need to.
since we have a cool down anyways, it can't be abused.
discuss?
It is hard trying to get a point across to the entire clan with just 160 characters, especially when mid-war.
I totally agree, but instead of a pop-up-window so to speak, I think the messages should be a full screen layout, similar to the league/clan/player/friends button.

Been waiting for someone else to agree with me on this one, I'm also a Co-Leader, and sometimes the leader even asks us to finish his message for him, due to the small character limit.
The 160 character limit combined with the 12 hour cooldown has to be the single dumbest "feature" of this entire game. It makes NO SENSE why it even exists. Was there really someone at supercell headquarters that said "You know what would be great? If our clan message system only let people send out 160 characters every 12 hours. I bet players will LOVE that!!."

Right, there's no way to fully detail information that clannies need to know, and leaders need to be able to communicate via clan mail.
Yes,This is totally needed but 1000 would be too much. Mabye 500 will be good.But i wouldnt mind 1000 though:p

Any addition would be good, 1000 characters would get used up fairly quickly. I'd almost want it to be unlimited, but I can see how that could get overwhelming for the server. So 1000 characters would give you enough space to get a point across thats needs a little more detail than the current 160 limit just simply doesn't provide.
I think the problem is that the clan messages take a lot of server space. That is why there is a 12 hour cool down. 1000 characters is just pushing it. I can definitely see why the 160 char limit and 12 hour cooldown look dumb, but you have to remember that these things take up memory.
6 hours cool down 300 character limit.
I have lots of trouble trying to send msgs with that limit.

As a co-leader of my clan, I find that the character limit prevents me from saying the message in detail, which can confuse my clan members. This is need, especially with clan wars requiring a lot of co-ordination.

Do a toll, I am also a coleader of my clan and I have had that problem so why not take a toll check?
Now that clan wars have come, its hard to fit in important messages in 160 words, plus there is a 12 hour cool down after that, we need a bigger space!! I hope supercell implements this idea in a future update
This is especially needed now that we have clan wars. The leader NEEDS to be able to send a detailed battle plan!
Please add this before any other feature!

As a coleader my self it is most definitely frustrating, to do this when trying to get the point across. With the added number of characters and less time between messages it will take up server space which is not a good thing when we would much rather see those big things added that need space. If this could be done without taking away too much server space then I'm all for it!!
To those claiming that this would strain their servers........really?! lol. This is TEXT we are talking about here. If 1k worth of text is too advanced a concept for the supercell servers to handle, then may I suggest they upgrade their servers to one that was made this century.
Hahaha! I'm sure Supercell's server has more than enough sufficient hard drive space for the kilobytes this would take up per clan message. And if we had a higher character limit, we wouldn't have to send messages as often because we'd have 5 times more space to say what we need.Quote:

Yes... We seriously need this idea and maybe instead of only having a small red dot in the corner of ur screen the message could automatically display itself (maybe after when it says that u have been attacked) :)

I do agree with more characters but not 1000. I would be fine with 500 or so.

I agree, 160 is too low, but 1k is a bit over the top. Maybe 700?

I dont think it should be for the clan or global chat. I think it should be just for the clan messages you send out. It would be way too much spam.

On a related note, often when I have nearly finished the message (typing and re-typing on my phone) it get a pop-up saying "are you still there" - and then it restarts, losing the whole message. Can this be disabled whilst on this screen please - this is the only time I have seen it.

I'll just add my +1 Yes we need bigger limit, as with current limit you can't really well express yourself.
What drives me nuts is when you take too long trying to get your point into 160 (if that is right) characters and you get booted for inactivity!! Grrr!! Surely a similar system to base designing where every screen touch resets the timeout timer would not be a big stretch? Alternatively when you get the "anyone there?" pop-up, give us 20 seconds to click a "yes" button or something.

CMIIW. I can't find this in the list of ruled out suggestions. I've only found this: "* Increase text space on leader messages" which has been implemented. Which means it has been already increased before, but still 160 characters is too short and 1000 would be nice. If SC is really worried about the memory space, they can remove those message that are a month old or just like the replays on every maintenance.
