The one thing that eludes me in the game.

Dark Elixir!

I consider myself to be an okay farmer. My gold grab is just a tad bit shy of 600 million.
However, My Heroic Heist is only 620k.

I'm a new town hall 10, my king and queen are lv 11 and 9 respectively and I still need to upgrade Minion (lv5), Golem (lv1), Witch (lv1) and valkyrie (lv2).

I've played comfortably going after gold and taking dark elixir as it comes along.

Is it time for me to change my farming ways? stop using BARCH and start using balloonians perhaps on people in master league?

What are the secrets of obtaining the elusive resource?

I just stop using dark troops when I need to get DE - I'm in the same boat as you, I have had TH10 for about a month.
Having 3 DE drills definitely makes a bit of a difference. I am actually just using Hogs atm because I need elixir for my camps.

whats your cup your range? 95% of my de came from barch. Maybe you are too low?

I've had my drill upgrading since I got to TH10. Funnily enough I stop using dark troops too and it does help.

Just wondering how so many people get so much of the stuff. I've heard people complain about the storage being capped at 200k. I've never even seen 100k in my storage in my time playing the game. How are these guys doing it? lol

I'm like you though, I need to upgrade my elixir stuff first. But would love to know how people are getting so much dark elixir, seemingly with ease.

Chilling out at 1600-1800.

I know I should probably go higher and i'm on my up now as my clan is pushing.

Any strat where you can win 888 attacks a season i imagine is highly successful?

Many experienced farmers use balloons/minions. I tried it for a week, found it to be a nice change of pace and was fun,but wasn't optimal for me. A few ppl in my mains clan farm as low as you, but they succeed on amazingly high volume of attacks. Try barch in c3 or c2 for a week and see if it is sustainable and optimal for you perhaps.

Okay, so there is good at farming and then there is ridiculous, haha.

I see a good link is given.

For a shortened down version, and what I use personally is two ways;

1: Go to 2600+, use balloons and 2 dragons, make a path clear for minions/dragon to crack the de sorage, saving some minions to hit de pumps.

2: Stick around 2000-2599. I use a simple army comp to crack de storages for 2-4k de a time;
16 giants
12 wbs
4 wizards ( don't always need to use them )
40 barbs rest archers
cc: wizards

I pack a couple rage with both just in case, 1 heal, 1 lightning for cc troops.

Minions/Hogs/Golem/Witch max. Valks 1 ( lol )

Most recently I have been using Barch with some wizzies added for punch in Masters 2(actually just dropped a bit two days ago for some quicker gold), and it has been great for DE.

No DE on the army means any I always gain, and a 400-500 DE bonus.

2800-2950ish.
104 barb, 104 Arch, 8 Wizzie, two lower level heroes(lvl 15 and 10), 4 lightning, 1 rage.

Got my BK upgraded a bit, Witches to lvl 2 and Golems to lvl 5, no problem. About 15-20k DE for a 4-6 hour day, estimated.

Raise your trophies. I find de raids to be good in Crystal I/II.

I farm gold and elixir with barch/bam. I farm de mostly with balloonions.

If I see a base with more than 1,500 I rush it, with rage if necessary, even if it means losing the battle.

My Heroic Heist is approaching 3 mill.

I can't help you much, as I'm a TH8, but I'm making tons of DE around 1550 by raiding my fellow TH8s.

My HH has just topped 4 million, (which isnt amazing but isnt bad either!) and I have very rarely gone farming specifically for DE.. I use two combinations of troops usually, minis and loons when im at work, and barch or archers in the evening. (I dont have the patience to watch my armies cook for 45 minutes in the evening!) I tend to hang out in gold one, crystal three and there is plenty of DE there which doesnt require the long cook armies..

One thing i would say, is when you are doing normal farming, always make sure that you hit the exposed drills and any storages that arent too far in.. it sounds simple, but even if you only get a nibble those little nibbles really add up.. especially on TH10s with 3 maxed drills that are sitting there nice and full!

I think I will give 1900+ cup range a bash. It seems a lot of you have had a lot of success there.

A lot of it might be down to my relentless focus to get gold throughout the game too. Maybe it is better to focus on a singular resource when farming and it is time to shift that focus onto dark elixir.

Gold and elixir go hand in hand whilst farming. It all evens out eventually. Dark elixir is totally separate, and does take just concentrating on it to gain "enough".

The higher you go, the better the bonus, also more people will have fuller de storages making for less Nexts.

i'm at 462mil gg and 1.03mil HH and almost all of it is from using barbs, archers and goblins around 1750

I'm a strategist - that is what I love about games personally. So I'm the guy making a spreadsheet of how to optimize my builder time when I go to a new town hall, etc.
Anyway, I saw dark elixir as a long haul. So right from th7 I was (gasp!) zapping every time I got online with my lightning spells. I still do to this day because of my play style and life availability (one attack in mornings, one in afternoon, several most evenings). I never passed up bases where I thought I could get a significant amount of dark elixir (varied on town level).
So as a th9, I farm gold in 1400-1800 with BAM, but anytime I see a base with over 1000 dark and some kind of gold, I see if I can crack it. Most in that range can be cracked - and there are still a lot of th8s storing enough DE to take alot while raiding for gold. What you won't find in that are inactives with high level dark elixir drills - so I don't consider myself farming for DE. I have to be reaching 2 mil Heroic Heist without ever farming for it.

2700+ and use balloonions. Works every time :)

Well I don't have that many attacks per season but I still earn a lot of DE with that strat

I think one way to make de easier to farm would be if supercell increased the storage capacity on the drills before they maxed out.

I find more dark elixir than ever in master 2-3, 3-4000 per raid, but dont want to upgrade heroes up there as I need them.

Gold 1-2 is generally good for gold and elixir but you need to get into the crystal leagues for dark.

I worked out today that to take my level 17 heroes to max, it would cost £950 or so to buy the dark elixir :O

The game could do with more dark available for sure. If you are willing to buy gems, I find boosting 3 maxed drills helps enormously!

I can already say that there is more DE in the 1900 cup range.

Been pushing my way up by sniping town halls and, in the process, taking out drills and taking 600-700de.

Just a shame I don't have my spell factory available to help me take more of these resources. That all changes tomorrow though =]

I think I'll stay here and in crystal for a while after my push.
