well... not quite...

assuming you have a lvl 11 gold mine. production rate = 3000/hr
boosting will double the production rate i.e. = 6000/hr for 6hrs at the cost of 20gems

which means you'll end up with 36000 gold in 6 hrs at the cost of 20 gems

checking with the wiki, to buy 36000 gold will cost you 54 gems. You'd be saving 34 gems to get the same amount if you were to boost it.

HOWEVER, the only downside is the time factor of 6hrs. so it'll be better to boost to when you're under a shield that's going to last longer than 6hrs.

Im bad with math so i cant correct you but i do know that it has been proven cheaper in the long run to buy the gold instead of boost ur mines. Would be weird if Dave had that wrong seeing how long hes been in the game eh? :p

It is cheaper to Buy resources than Boost pumps.

HOWEVER, this is a design thread not an arguments thread. ;)

well yeah it's going to be cheaper if you buy the gold/elixir in bulk. especially if you're going to purchase it in the millions.

boosting:
36000 gold / 20 gems = approximately 1800 gold for 1 gem

buying:
36000 gold / 54gems = approximately 666 gold for 1 gem
3600000 gold / 1293 gems = approximately 2784 gold for 1 gem

but just for the 36k alone. boosting is cheaper.

I am getting inspiration from these fantastic designs. I tend to stick to the complex egg idea, but i'm opening up to aesthetic and functional designs as well.

The math here is wrong. You are already getting 3k an hour without boosting, so your really only "buying" 3k gold per hour not 6k when boosting. So 20 gems really buys you 18k gold

i have dishonored my asian family for failing to spot this mathematical error.

Can anyone who's tried the Beetle design tell me how it works? It seems to be a good defense overall and I'd love to hear if it is working for anyone and at what trophy range.
