Is having too many elders and/ or co leaders bad for the image of a clan?

As a co-leader, I like to share my insight and opinion in order to improve my clan.
First of, I want to say we have an active clan with a great core of players.

I am having a debate with my leader. I say having numerous elders is a good thing for our clan. My opinion is if members earned the title of elder because of their war efficiency, loyalty, and high donations (850-1400 donations per season), then they deserve to be promoted. MY CLAN CURRENTLY HAS 12 ELDERS. In my opinion, co leaders are reserved for the best members of a clan. This goes to the most active and higher donating members (1400+ donations plus). Therefore I am content with only having 3 CO LEADERS.

My leader believes that we should not eclipse twelve elders because being an elder because he believes having too many elders makes the clan seem childish. He also believes that clan titles are only for the best 16 members (12 elders, 3 co leaders, and leader). As previously noted, we have a strong core of guys who have earned an elder title. Many guys eclipse 850 donations, are active in the clan, and have been loyal members for months.

What do you guys think about this situation?

It does make the clan seems quite "cheap"from a glance, and newer members could nag endlessly for elder title. Just tell them that the title is to be earned. Don't be afraid giving the title to someone that deserve it.

Co leader however, there shouldnt be more than 3 imo. Those chosen are usually one that have been in the clan since founding and very loyal/trusted.

My own clan are quite strict and get rid of anyone that doesnt meet the standard. Those that remain are mostly elders, either gone quickly or stay for good. We have way more elder than member, and is fine with that. Rveryone know the title is rightfully earned.

None of the guys nag to be elders. Normally, its kids and teenagers who do that and we red flag anybody who does begin to nag for elder. I agree with your last paragraph. My leader wants no more than 12 elders but 5-6 more of our members are worthy elder candidates.

When i promote an elder, i expect him to be an example to other members. It should be limited so that members can fight for it. Underperformed elders can be demoted and replaced

I believe that 12 elders is too many. If you have an active and loyal clan then there is no need for that many elders.mi would also just stick to 2 co leaders as it is easier to co ordinate between just 3 people. Around 5-6 elders should be good as well. They dont have as much authority as what they once did anyways

I believe that if everyone seems to meet the elder requirements, then you should increase it so that people can work hard for elder. Also, if elders are not recruiting, then they dont deserve to be one (i know im sounding harsh :D).

If you have 50 members in your clan, maybe 10 elders and coleaders go to the ones that make the clan grow and have been through all the rough times and still are enthusiastic about the clan.

My clan has 21 elders(me included) and 6 coleaders that pass the leadership around. Typically, we have guys that ask for elder, and they don't stay for long cuz either they leave, get kicked, or I kick them cuz they typically donate the wrong things to people. The elder role is mainly for members that have been there at least 6 months or so.

elders are ok...but 5 or more co leaders is bad. We have this issue now...that some co leaders press the search button for CW. even if we have a scheduled date for CW, they still or someone still presses it without the consent of other co-leaders. so what you do is minimize the co-leaders down to 2. promoting members to elders are ok. but too much co-leaders is bad. (based from experience)

To thread starter, I shared the ideas of your leader as I am once a leader(just handed over my leadership to 1 of my Co leaders).

Too many elders does make the clan look cheap and to certain extent, it has diminished it weightage and lost it values.

During the time as a leader, I maintained maximum 2 Co-leader and 12 elders to uphold it purposeful and values.

But as said,the moment I passed my baton to my current leader(formerly my co - leader)who instantly promoted many guys to an elder, with 19 elders as of current, like an overhauled of the cabinet, to me it seem to be an imbalance lol

I am pretty fine,as I have requested to be demoted to an elder,which is what I am now.

yes it does, and it makes the clan very hard to stay under control. giving ppl power is the thing one should think twice before doing, trying to get the power back will never end well. its just human nature. 2000 donates to become elder in our clan, cuz we have around 15 ppl that can donate more than 1000 every season.
