Banned for too many posts?

I just noticed that a certain somebody was temporarily banned for being too active on the forum. Was this necessary? I mean it looks pretty bad for a user when it says "Banned" under their name, and since forum rules don't allow you to specifically discuss the reason for the banning, people might assume the worst. There is a no "name and shame" rule, but I would think getting a label of "Banned" directly under my name would be the biggest possible form of being shamed. Mods should try to come with a more appropriate way of handling a situation like this.

I talked with someone and they said he had been talked to beforehand. I can see both sides of the argument but I still feel this was poorly handled.
