Top Youtubers Violating SuperCell TOS

A couple of the top YouTubers are in clear violation of SuperCells Terms of Service.

• You shall not have more than one Account at any given time, sell or give away your Account, create an Account using a false identity or information, or on behalf of someone other than yourself; You shall not use the Service if you have previously been removed by Supercell, or previously been banned from playing any Supercell game;.

I have watched a few were one has a defenseless account and a main account.

My question is if SuperCell clearly knows that these players are in violation of TOS. Does that legally undermine the integrity of the entire TOS.

I find it interesting that Godson uses fluffybunny, and yet he was one of the youtubers invited to Helsinki. It's almost as if Supercell was promoting use of Fluffybunny, and therefor encouraging ignorance of the ToS by bringing Godson to their headquarters...

No, it's one per device. The game runs on both iOS and Android.

The TOS is generic and meant to cover various products including the forums where the multiple accounts are enforced.

Godson played on PC and they didnt ban him, weird..

I think barely anyone is banned for these, I know tonnes of people who break ToS, it could be enforced a bit better to be honest.

Of course not. If I drive 56mph in a 55mph zone and the cops don't pull me over, does that mean I can break any law I want? The ToS is an agreement where users agree to certain conditions in order to use the service. If you break those conditions, SC can punish you (or not), much in the same way a government can punish you (or not) for breaking a law.

I don't know a whole lot about this issue, but my guess is this would be incredibly hard to enforce and is broken by tons of people (hence the speed limit analogy). It doesn't mean you should ignore it, but SC does have the right to do something about it if they ever wanted to.

Why would they ban famous youtubers? They practically generate SC revenue from people that find out about the game from them etc. Its a bit like some top players, it doesnt matter if they che@t they are giving sc a ton of money. when they do ban players its never anyone who promotes etc their game.Thats why godson made a video about how to play on pc and he didnt get banned, but i know of alot of people who have gotten banned from using it.

The terms of reference are in innuendo to one person, on one device. The terms of service are designed upon the ideology that a player only has one device, as do the vast moajority of Clash of clans players. The question has been brought up in the past (Can't exactly remember where- I'll link you if I do though) and was given a similar answer, so those owning more than one account, but only one account per device are still in compliance with the TOS.

I never knew what TOS even stood for until about a couple months ago....I've been playing this game since a September of 2012........:confused:

As for the thread I don't think SC is really going to care if someone uses more than one account for fun,especially for entertainment like the youtubers.

It's also against the ToS to be under 13.

IMHO, i feel SC should enforce their ToS on this.

It might not be a serious problem now, but down the road in the future it will create a problem.

The reason for this rule is to prevent interaction between multi accs of the same player in order to gain advantage.

Well if you ask me, it's already happening. Multi accounts donating to main accounts is the main thing going on.

Is it fair that a normal player needs to spend effort to find a good clan for good troops while another person can just gem a couple of multis to give him maxed troops every single time? Well from what i observed, i would deduce that SC prefers the latter, since it generates them revenue.

At the end of the day, the interaction between SC and their players are very non-transparent. It's almost as if it's a, for the lack of a better word, a mafia system.

The way exploits are reported to SC behind the scenes without making any publicity, and the way players abd clans are banned in game without any announcement to the public followed by subsequent deletion of any thread that remotely mentions it. All these are not healthy for the game, and allows room for selected enforcing to please the player base that SC deems important.

At the end of the day, they are laying down rules to protect their own interest so that exploits that hurts their revenues can be taken care of. But it's sad to see that exploits that improves their revenue not being taken care of, and exploits that doesn't hurt anyone are also allowed to go on, until they do.

Only if life were fair. Everyone would be a giant happy family. Everyone follows the rules.

At the end of the day if you've ever had kids you learn to let the small stuff go. 2 accounts? Oh well, go for it. Against the ToS? Sure. Big deal? No.

is it even possible for a user to have multiple accounts on the same device?? by default i dont think there is that option at all..unless theres some syncing thru google+ or GC that i don't know about....so i don't see the point of even having it in the ToS unless you can get it on rooted or jailbroken phones....

plus on the issue of players playing on multiple devices...its only a very small minority who do it really...mostly youtubers and top players in game....besides theres probably no way for SC to figure them out...and even if they do its not really practical for SC to issue bans and such because the youtubers help in publicising the game and the top guys are obviously bank rolling the company...cant really see any action being taken against the minority elite which could destabilize SCs top revenue stream

SC is still a pretty small and upcoming company..right now they really can't afford pissing off their best paying customers

It's a game, if you wanna compare it with real life situations like having two kids, of course non of it would've mattered.

Even if the servers shut down tmr and that be the end of CoC it still wouldn't matter in the context that you put it.

Man, age stuff never ever is cared about. I'm 15 that plays COD that is for 18+ only, and there is nothing done about it. There are people under 13 playing COC, and SC can't find out their age, and they wouldn't mind either. I just refer to the age rule more like "recommended for ages this or above only" because barely anyone cares about these age stuff.

so what if they brake the SC rules? (which I don't know if they do, not my problem)

SC has the choice weather or not they have to do anything about it.

obviously SC cant just go banning random people who they "catch", because it then becomes a cat + mouse game, where SC are only going to get hopelessly distracted by, delaying customer updates...

if SC did just ban everyone they saw, we would all see a lot of threads saying "why did SC ban me and not him? that's not fair!"

I'm not saying they should be banned, just saying people shouldn't add things to the TOS at their convenience, justifying having more than one account does not break the TOS, thus misinforming everybody on this forum.

Why do you think you know better than supercell what their TOS means?

I know a lot of people who use sleepy tortoise (don't like fluffy bunnies), sell accounts or use ghosting, but I don't want to report them until there is stricter enforcement, unfair for those few who do get banned. I wanted to until I learnt just the amount of those who disobey rules.

They are supercell's TOS and they have chosen to let people play one account per devise. Many youtubers and regular players play multiple accounts on separate devices and supercell have never done anything about it. Given that most of their moderators even play multiple accounts they clearly have no issue with it so why do you? It's not you game remember.

this issue help me realize that when it comes the TOS, the details aren't important. per device, per user, could be this could be that but it doesnt matter...blah blah blah. the mods get on and clarify the issue by saying the issue doesnt need to be clarified.

Supercell dont recomend doing that as they risk losing their accounts.

what do you even think should happen to the youtubers then? They cant ban them because then they would just argue that other people play multiple accounts on the separate devices too. They cant ban those people too because its imposible to detect them. Even if they did manage to detect that 2 accounts are being operated by one person then those people could just argue something along the lines of "this is my kids account and i just help him with it sometimes"
A one account per person rule would be impossible to enforce.

if it was the case that supercell wanted to enforce this rule but just couldn't then why would they allow most of their mods to play multiple accounts even though the TOS says no to it. Surely they would want the people who are representing them to set a good example.

it obvious the one account per person line in the TOS was not intended to stop people from playing multiple accounts on the separate devices.

Anyone have any evidence of multiple accounts ever being enforced within CoC?

I've seen ToS enforced with forum accounts multiple times, which is where SC seems to care about it. There is undoubtedly a tacit approval of multiple CoC accounts, which is their prerogative.

If you look hard enough you can find supercell looking directly at, then past people using more than one CoC account on a single device. This would seem to suggest SC doesn't care how many CoC accounts anyone has in any form. So,why should anyone else? Rabble rabble rabble.

Furthermore if SC cared about multiple accounts they would've politely asked people doing it to stop. Which they surely would have done.

The only thing we have to fall back on, as far as this issue is concerned, is the fact that youtube players also have multiple accounts.

It's a matter of "if they ban me they also have to ban xxxxx who do youtube videos". That's all the assurance you have. Forum moderators can't tell you outright that you can do it and SC will never ban you for it, because that will never be the case. As long as the ToS is there, SC reserves the right to wake up one day, decides to crack it down, and punish all multi accs, including those youtubers.

On a slighty off-tracked note, i did see players post on youtube before using 3rd party softwares, as well as jailbroken devices. Clear as day, IGN and clan name visible to all. Results? No action taken. So, there are certain rules that SC enforces and don't, and it confuses people.

Please close this, mods. It's turning into a flame war. And could we get something from the Supercell guys?

if it was the case that supercell wanted to enforce this rule but just couldn't then why would they allow most of their mods to play multiple accounts even though the TOS says no to it. Surely they would want the people who are representing them to set a good example.

it obvious the one account per person line in the TOS was not intended to stop people from playing multiple accounts on the separate devices.

A one account per person rule would be impossible to enforce.

Just because you can't enforce a rule on everyone doesn't mean you shouldn't at all. Thousands of crimes go unpunished every day but that doesn't stop law enforcing, does it?

For starters, they can just start with those who out right admit on youtube that they are creating second accounts, using jailbroken devices, using game h@cks, etc etc.

That is IF they want to enforce it.

So your allowed (sort of) to have two accounts or more, on seprate devices. (pheww)

But what if you were checking on the other account from the device you were playing the other account on? Or am i over thinking this?

My point was they don't want to enforce it. As it was pointed out The TOS are made to cover all supercell games and the forums, the forums is what the one account per person line is meant for.

I believe you are over thinking. If you run into trouble messing around with multiple accounts on 1 device there won't be much sympathy as they clearly do not support more than 1 account per device.

And my (earlier) point is that they should enforce it.

Some players and clans have an advantage in terms of troop donations because of the multis they have.

I know some think that this is not a big issue, but i do feel the unfairness.

Supercell doesn't seem to have an issue with it unless they are using it to che@t. If people are using a second account to make youtube videos to entertain people or just enjoy the lower lvls of the game again then whats the problem. The one account line in the TOS clearly isn't meant for those situations.
