I am a TH8. I like farming bases and am in no way worried about trophies but our clan likes to play clan wars. And since farming bases leave your TH out for an easy one star in clan wars i dont think that is going to work well for me. I really need my elixir right now though, because i am new to TH8 and trying to upgrade all my troops to level 5. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You could possibly consider a Hybrid design, so place your TH in the middle during the War preparation day (say for 20 minutes before prep day ends), the rest of the time put your TH outside for the free shield.
You may want to try this base I have seen on the forums, it looks solid for a TH8 hybrid design, I believe it is the "Breakers Bane" base.

I assume when your farming move the TH outside, centralise CC and bring up any other building you like into the CC Slot.
Where i am trying to save my elixir up for leveling all my troops this breakers bane base wouldnt protect my storages enough, they would be raided too much.
You don't lose much loot during clan war raids, so dont worry about your storages. I farm when I'm not at war. I setup my war base a few hours before prep day ends, then back again as soon as war begins. If you have a shield during these few hours is even better.

I see now you can protect certain resources i just looked at pic and didnt read all the way down. This could work for me to keep my elixir anyways.
axion i dont have time to change too much around between clan wars and stuff. I guess i just need to find some good basic hybrid designs that i can tailor to what i need.
I need something that is going to protect resources and still do me well in clan wars without much switching.
Just raid more than you lose. At th7, my elixir storages were filled to the top. They got raided 200k + a day and I stayed filled. For cw, I kept my elixir storages out for a while and kept elixir upgrades going. I kept them out even when we weren't in cw. I just like the elixir storages inside to see when people fail against my base.Quote:
