Which do you prefer at an early and late TH 8? Shuriken or Tempest?

First, many thanks to Orz. I just got to TH8 about a week ago and am using the Tempest at the moment. It's been working great. Both of these threads have so many posts, it's difficult to really tell which one everyone prefers and at what point you should use one or the other when progressing through TH8. So, which works better for you guys at each point in your TH8 journey?

I began using tempest as soon as I upgraded to th8 and had all the defensive buildings built and walls up to decent level. I used that for about a month/month and a half until I decided to test out other setups. I tried shuriken just wasn't for me, and I looked at a couple of other popular th8 setups on SC forums. I go anywhere from 1200-2000 in cups and Tempest as been the one that has held up the best. To this point I haven't been 3 starred as a TH8 using Tempest, but i have been 1 starred and 2 starred by a good high level attacker using a lvl 6 barch army with some giants/BK/AQ combo and hitting me from the top right side and in waves and getting to core.

Also this base must be pretty intimidating in Clan wars as I now have 90 lvl 8 walls the rest lvl 7 and have been attacked twice in 5 wars. one 1 star and one 2 star.

I would like to try Southern Teaser the th8 design by Orz eventually as well.

Yeah don't think OP would want to put such an unpopular poll choice up :p

use Shuriken for early TH8 and Tempest for late TH8. I used shuriken for ages through TH8.

Just don't use bases like TTP or pokeball, more overused than anything else

I've been using Tempest since I got to TH8. I will never use anything else. It's proven solid to me through all its versions. It works well in Clan Wars (trophy hunting version), Farming, and Trophy Push.

Tempest helped me get to Masters because of the great defense it provides.

In the last war my clan was it was a very close war. We ended up winning 87-84.

We have some people with great bases that had great defenses but this last war Tempest 5.0 really earned some praise from me as my base held up amazingly well.

Over the course of the war I was attacked EIGHT times. 5 for one star. 2 defended. The final attack was a 3 star by their number 2 TH10. He hit me with Level 5 hogs and Level 6 loons. He hit me the final 2 hours of the war as a last ditch effort to try to get a win. He didn't have anywhere else to go as everything else was already 2-3 starred or he would have to try to hit our TH10's.

Tempest made them waste 6 attacks during the war. Six attacks that generated nothing for them. I'm certainly not solely responsible for the win but between my attacks and my defense I was definitely the MVP and it's all thanks to Orz's hard work.

How hard was it to get to master's as th8 and what do you recommend if I try to do the same? Sorry for subtopic

I barched, hogged (lvl3 and then lvl4 as my upgrade finished), and sniped my way there. Patience is the key. Keep gold storage's very low (throw money at walls while pushing). Keep DE relatively low (hogging will help). Keeping those two storage units low will help you not get revenged because you won't be worth it. I'd honestly leave your TH exposed (farming Tempest version) for other snipers doing the same thing. If you snipe, simply snipe the TH. Don't zap DE or do anything stupid that could make the person you sniped mad at you.

Again though patience is the key. You have to make sure the base you're attacking can be 1 starred at the minimum.

So pretty much how I pushed to crystal as a th7 but on crack since you said patience twice lol. Thanks bud! And again to OP Tempest all the way out of these two choices IMO

Thanks for all the replies guys! Sounds like I should stick with The Tempest the whole way. Gonna try to push to Crystal as soon as my level 5 archers finish. Maybe I'll push up to Masters too. :)
