With wars, however, my clan only wars once a week, so I would like to have drags/wiz in the cc, since they're better on defense.
Here's the problem: my members are so used to donating archers that they give them anyway. Now, this is of course fixable, and I've managed to get my members to hold off on the archers, in large part by pointing out that clan war donations don't count to your total. Considering that my clan is fairly advanced (everyone has level 5+ arch), the amount of time I've had to put into this makes me wonder how the leaders of lower clans don't pull their hair out in frustration.
As far as being rewarded for donating, isn't winning the war enough? I spent 400k+ elixir and 3 hours of potential raiding time donating 450 troops to war bases yesterday, and I don't need some numbers to increase to make it feel worthwhile. If increasing your numbers is the only reason you donate to your clan, perhaps it's time to find a new one. If not, learn to find the value in the deed itself, not just in the reward.
