I wouldn't touch TH9 without fully upgraded HTs. People seem to miss their deadly defensive abilities. I don't know why.
Think of it this way....
I upgraded all point defenses to max, all splash to max, all storage and mines/drills to max and 1/2 of walls to max. I went to th9 with full elixir/gold/de and I'm just now getting all new defenses and walls to TH8 level. There is A LOT to upgrade at TH9 and it's all expensive and lengthy. Take your time, enjoy your cheap upgrades and farm the heck out of those TH7's. They are not worth it at TH9. There is good hunting and looting at th9 but it's higher up and harder to get.
Yes, you get better troops and so on but defenses are better so it's not like you're going up against TH7s with these new troops. You'll be going against better defenders too.
The game is a marathon, you're not going to jump from top of the food chain at TH8 to middle of the TH9 food chain unless you do all those defensive upgrades. I understand how boring it can be but would you rather be bored or frustrated? Go look up what you will be upgrading at TH9 and then consider. It's your game, only you can know what's best for you but I'd advise against it for a bit more.
Last thing.... as a fairly new TH9 I jump the heck out of new TH9s with purple walls and low defensive upgrades. You'll be saving loot for upgrades and I'm gonna raid it hard. You're one heck of a better target than a well defended th8 because of loot penalty and th8s don't have to store much loot for upgrades.
If you are very active and know how to farm id say go for it. If you can get 5m+ gold a day then you won't have a single issue with being a little premature
Again, thanks all! I have decided to get my HTs up, and then my cannons... I'll stay a bit longer at th8, but not too long....
The reason for going to th9 is not solely based on the fact that Im becoming bored of th8, but because of the new adventure of moving up in the ranks :)
