I agree.
When I was TH7 and had max purples, I always have maxed golds. That means I can't raid and my collectors will be full too. I was gonna max my TH7.

But, I realized. Waiting to max TH7 would be a waste of time. Why?
How a TH8 sees me:
300k gold to loot
300k elixir to loot
500 DE to loot
-- Everyone will attack this!
Any good lv5 troops attacker would get atleast 200k of gold. That is a huge amount.
Even TH9s will see you have 150k to loot. I, a TH9 does raid TH7s with 150k+ loot too! They look so yummy and easy to raid.

So I suggest you to upgrade when:
1) Maxed splash and WTs [you'll get this by the time your walls maxed]
2) Atleast LV3 BK
3) 80% LV7 walls.
4) Maxed farming troops.

No need to max 100%. Collectors, barracks, and point defenses aren't that important. Teslas are good, tho'.

This statement doesn't really make much sense because having a "well developed" base by definition would mean that you would be maxing your base at each TH. Otherwise, you are upgrading premie. And premie and "well developed" are opposites.

I think maybe you are talking about being efficient with your resources.

This isn't necessarily true, I was a rushed TH9 but became a well developed one before upgrading to TH 10, you don't know how long time Chachabomber has been at TH9.

My guess is that he finished his lvl 8 walls with TH7 defences, grinding lvl 9 and 10 walls takes a long time which gives the defences a chance to catch up, no waste of wall grinding time since he didn't wait for the defences to finish up at TH8.

The most effective upgrade style depends on how you play the game, that's whay my advice always is this:
Upgrade TH when: A) Your walls are maxed. B) Your buildings are maxed C) When your lab upgrades are maxed.

A) Is for the really active players, if you finish your walls first you're obviously getting alot of gold, if you stay and wait for the defences to finish up you're wasting valuable raiding time that you could have spent on higher level walls. Waiting will make your progress slower in the end.

B) For regular players, if all of your buildings are done you're wasting valuable building time by grinding walls, waiting will make your progress in the game slower in the end. However think before your upgrade to TH10, you might need your walls at a higher level since farming gets harder.

C) For very casual players, Most of these will have quit before reaching higher TH levels but you should have a desent village (for your TH) if all of your lab upgrades are done. Maxing out your troops are the most important part of the game, don't ever let that lab rest.

What about hero levels? The higher TH you got the more DE you'll get, you're actually wasting time if you stay to max out heroes, no matter what TH you're at.

? atleast get your cannons and archer towers lvl 7. And max the mortars so you can max out mortars first at th 8. You get alot more loot at townhall 7 so dont rush.

at the rate that you are farming it is MUCH more effective to go up in th after you finish your walls and upgrade the troops you use for farming
if you don't you won't have a place to dump your gold into and you will sit on full storages for a long time waiting on defenses

Actually ill play the devils advocate here. When i went to th9 i had lvl 6 walls and th7 defenses. Granted i was now an above average farmer (all thanks to the wonderful people at unity origins) but if you rush to th9(maxing army camps and barch lvls before you go) youll do fine. In December i just got th9 with the defenses i said but now im basically done with legos and i have defenses and troops maxed for th9. If you rush youll have to be very active to recover which in my opinion is more fun, but dont rush to th10 because there's no recovering from that

why I'm going to have trouble farming for DE? If you think we need very powerful troops to do that, please follow Brandon's and UnitySharp DE farming guide, it doesn't need OP troops like Hogs, Golems, Witch, Dragons, Pekka, etc... Simple lv.6 tier 1-2 troops will gets the job done.
Brandon just use BAG and Unity is just using Giant-Wizard to get their super-heroes

You're a TH8, you can proove it by saving about 30K DE in your storage... TH9 simple army with Lv.6 G Barch should take them all easily... just test it by breaking your shield multiple times with that amount of DE in hand.
