My suggestion is to allow the use of coins to purchase diamonds and hire Tom. Anyone else agree or any reason this would negatively effect the game?

Brilliant idea !!!!!!
As long as Tom is for free it's ok, if he sleeps all the time, but if the rent for one day is 15 diamonds, he shoul work for them. the time for renting him should be shorter. one day is useless, as I as many of us I suppose, are sleeping the half of it.
I Suggest 1 hour Tom for 5 diamonds and he is allowed to rest 5minutes after every search.
I agree wholeheartedly that the amount of time Tom spends resting is entirely too long. I could understand one hour, but two seems a little much.
For me personally it would be better to hire him for 12 hours and let him sleep 1 hour after every run. I didn't do the math, but it's not much difference is it? It's just a little more logic way to do it, without disturbing sleep and so. It's kinda ridiculous to wake up at night because you can't waste diamonds. It's not like the game should take over your life. I don't know how to describe it different, but it seems like Supercell want to make our everyday life harder in order to get rare items "easy" from Tom??
I reckon that Tom shouldn't need to hired using diamonds. He should be able to be hired for coins. Like 5,000 coins for a day, or something similar. I know I'm not the only one to say that I don't purchase diamonds using my actual money in my bank
We should be allowed to hire Tom for a one time use for say 500 coins or 1 diamond. I agree, fifteen diamonds is an inflated price if he's going to sleep through half of it. Why does he need to sleep anyway? If I were to hire someone in real life I would expect them to work, not sleep. Plus, I don't make the real money I spend on diamonds while I sleep so neither should he. Also, another idea is to be able to specify how many items needed and not have a limit. For example, I hire Tom to search for sugar and I need 30 sacks. Why am I only given three item amounts?
I also think Tom should be allowed to search for building and expansion items. It's exhausting having to look for 1 land deed for days on end. I'm retired and I have the luxury of being able to play for hours at a time. This doesn't help me find rare items. If anything, the computer seems to know what it is I'm looking for and then deliberately keeps the item form popping up as rewards for harvesting crops, etc....

If everything is so easy the game will get boring, everyone will have everything, nothing rare over the game and supercell are going to stop making money because of that... Short n easy ;)
Tom is a little expensive to purchase when he sleeps for more time than he is hired for. I liked him better for free because I didn't feel like I wasted anything to gain his help. If we have to pay him for help it needs to cost like 1-3 diamonds for a day. Or as some have suggested coin but not outrageous amounts. We already have enough to save up for.
If it was possible to get Tom for coins, I'd be in heaven but if every single thing in the game could be bought for coins and no one used real money to buy diamonds, there wouldn't be a game called Hay Day. The company has employees that costs salary and as a business they also need to make a profit. No one works for free. Therefore, obviously Tom costs diamonds and that's more than reasonable in my eyes. Players that play for free shouldn't have a problem enjoying Hay Day without Tom's services.
When discussing Tom, there's a lot of opinions of why he can't look for expansion parts or why he sleeps so much, etc, etc. However. Talking Hay Day prices, Tom is such a bargain!
Example 1. Speeding up production for 1 item directly onthe machine costs 1-9 diamonds. That is for only 1 item. With only 1 run with Tom, you can get up to 9 items. By only using Tom 1 single time and have him get 9 jams, I already made a HUGE savings over speeding up 9 jams (which would cost me 9x8 diamonds = 72 plus ingredients). To, only costed me 15 diamonds for the entire day.
Example 2. It costs 3 diamonds to open a locked mystery box which might get you a random expansion part, however, risk is still big that there is only coins or a saw/axe/shovel/dynamite/TNT (which Tom can find up to 9 of each time). With 15 diamonds, you can only open 5 boxes and for you do get an expansion part every single time is slim but let's say that you did. This means you got 5 random parts for 15 diamonds. You can also pay 8 diamonds to get the specific part you're missing directly in the window where you expand. With that said, it would be extremely strange if we could get up to 90 parts free of choice for 15 diamonds, right?
Tip: Although Tom can not directly find expansion materials for us, he can still find saws, axes, dynamite, TNT and shovels. These items can be traded for expansion parts on the forum or you can use the explosives to do mining. When mining, you can sometimes get expansion parts and diamonds.
Example 3: Did you ever find 9 jams flipping through the newspapers, searching through your friends and followers roadshops in TWO hours? I didn't. Not even once!
But Tom does. So you might think he is lazy, but actually he is doing a very good job.
Example 4: On a good day with creative juggling-I can get Tom to go on 10 runs-that is 90 items-I can't sleep well anyway. Some people do wake-up every 2 hours to send him off also-getting even more work out of him. Well spent diamonds in my opinion, and it allows me to focus on expansion items when then "fun" Daily Dirt newspaper pops up-and forgo the sugars, juices, jam advertisements as I'm madly clicking away.
WELL SAID! I sometimes wonder if the people who thinks Tom is lazy even have the right barn capacity to accept 9 items every 5 minutes lol!
I have to be honest, every since I started paying 70 diamonds for 10 days, I've been slacking to be on time when he wakes up. Probably use him every 2,5-3 hrs. Still cheaper divided by runs with the discount.
I like using Tom, but can rarely afford to use him. I'm on a limited income so can play a lot, but not afford to use real money much. I love the game, but also think it would be great if Tom slept less when we do pay for him - after all, we usually sleep overnight, and can't even access Tom then, thus losing precious time we've paid for. It would also be fantastic if we could use him to access building materials, even if it was a limited amount.
hello hay friends :o
i have a problem keep clicking on diamonds on accident when trying to make more stuff food etc. i think we need some kind ask us question are u sure to use diamonds feature. it really annoyed me everytime i click on it diamond get spend
What if we could use 1 or 2 diamonds if we only need him to go on a quick search and don't need him for an entire day.
I just posted a thread not knowing about this. I like the thought of hiring Tom 12 times instead of by the hours. And I suggested to pay 1 or 2 diamonds if we wanted him to wake up an hour earlier. Yes we would go through the diamonds but it is worth it!! I rented him for 5 days when I had a bargain of 50% of the price of diamonds. So I took it and stockpiled my jams and juices and saws. I cleaned up my farm during the time and yes I set my alarms on some of the days. I found it was fun to get the stuff I needed. But I no longer get the discounted price so I may hire him a day here and there
Just to let you know you can never get him for the full 24 hours
Because of the time he takes to retrieve your items. So it's only 11 times. Yes I agree with you it's a bargain! But I'm on a limited income and cannot do it all the time. Retired and now they are even cutting what we get!! Ouch. But I have enjoyed the game from the start. Just wished at times they would go back to how it was when the game first came out. Easier to get the precious metals and diamonds. Every time one entered a friends farm there was a toolbox. It opened every 5th time. I did get diamonds rarely then. Now they never come. Maybe they should change the glitch to give you 5 diamonds upon the 1000th visit or something!! Anyway I think people need to think that before we didn't even have Tom to help.
I don't think you are ever going to see anything to do with Tom that will let people get him more without buying as many diamonds. I have bought diamonds but have mostly used them on hiring Tom and I am sure that Tom is a big money maker with Hay Day. With Tom being the best value currently for players compared to other ways to spend diamonds, I don't think you will see Supercell changing it.
Love all these ideas!
I agree about Tom sleeping more than he works. I also agree that my life shouldn't be revolving his nap time when I paid $10.00 worth of diamonds. Maybe he can do, ex: make 5errand runs then take a nap. And I know he's not real, but is he really that tired from getting 1 item that I need/want. To be honest I think it makes him look lazy. I spend my money to have diamonds just to hire Tom and I feel like I'm not getting the quality of work for my money. And if I want to spend 1 or 2 more diamonds in the middle of his nap to get me an item, then that would be a nice option. It drives me nuts knowing I'm spending money on a character that sleeps more than works.I just don't feel as if I am getting what I put into the game.
On a side note, I love playing this game.I would just like better options for Tom that is worth my money and diamonds, please
