Introducing New TH8 Farming Base Design: [Space Invader]
Hi everyone and welcome to my TH8 Farming base that has served me very well over the past few months in protecting my gold whilst I upgraded my walls and defences from a fresh TH7. I actually intended to public the design when I first created it but didn't fancy having people copy it as I believe it is unique and very effective (well.. it was for me anyway!), so I waited until I no longer required it as I am now focusing on de thus need a different design.
I know most other base design thread go through some random stuff before displaying the base but I ain't all about that so let;s get straight to it :D
-- Just a side note, I only have the one screenshot of it but hopefully you can see where everything goes. I can't be bothered to make it again now I changed my base ahahaa lazy Sam :P

How'd you like the look of that! :P Now down to the nitty gritty…
Pros of the Space invader:
- Point defences surround the outside of the base, covering all outside buildings bar the builders hut at the very top and the town hall.
- Centralised and unlurable CC for defence (as said by every other base designer, CC is key to ones defence!)
- Centralised, seperated "key" storages you want to protect with a requirement to breach at least 3 layers of walls to reach just one of them with ground troops. 4 to attack both.
- 3 point Wiz Tower and Mortars placed in perfect symmetry with at least 2 wiz towers covering each "key" storage in the centre as well as the dead zone of the mortars.
- Ideally placed teslas (central-ish) - this is due to the high dps and attack times of higher level teslas, they are super effective as a group together and you don't want them picked off on the outside like Ping's TTP
- Exhibits choke points with spring traps to fling those giants to kingdom come!
- Fully and very neatly positioned staggered junctions. Good luck Mr Skeleton!
- Ideally placed traps to cover the bases weaknesses - especially to air attacks
Cons of the Space Invader:
- Only 2 storages are effectively and successfully defended, I know a lot of people rush to max their 3rd gold and elixir storages when they reach TH8 which personally have a vendetta against but this isn't the place to share why.
- Uncentralised Barb King - get ready for a lot of sleeping BK's :( unfortunately I couldn't find a substitute to improve this, the base being designed as it is, he's always gonna have to be on the outside!
- Particularly susceptible to air attacks. The 2 AD's in the centre are satisfactorily placed to defend air attacks but a swarm of those little blue spit-balling thugs can easily knock them out.
Trap Placement: - *I have not purchased all of the traps for TH8 for fear of being to expensive to re-arm but these work for the ones I have bought*
- Spring traps are nestled in neatly set out choke points in a bed to once and for all find out the unanswered question of "how far can a giant fly?"
- Air Bombs are placed in the 2 quadrants of the base that aren't well protected by the two central air defence, in case the enemy decide to broadside the base or sandwich it from top and bottom with air troops to minimise their troop exposure to the air defences
- Air Mines are placed strategically to counter the enemy should they decide to attack the AD's from the side with high DPS flying units like drags or balloons so as to slow their advancement, as well as to hit those healers if the AD's are taken down and the enemy think the coast is clear
- Bombs are placed near wizard towers so they can damage the health of a bunch of troops before the wiz tower deals the final blow (particularly successful against a barb rush from the north)
- Giant bomb positioned to counter the fact that TH8 only has 3 teslas, the 4 gaps act as that "scare factor" where the enemy doesn't know where the teslas are (apart from if they're being upgraded like mine. D'oh!)
I think that just about wraps it up! thank you for taking the time to read and I hope if you choose to utilise the Space Invader that it works just as well for you as it did for me. Any questions or improvement ideas post them below and I'll gladly answer and take on board (argue the fact I'm right and your wrong ;P) all info!
Sam :D
