Why upgrade walls?

Hey guys and gals
I was thinking the other day, what is the point in leveling up walls when the gold could be spent on building etc. Bearing in mind I have all level 8 walls, I realised how menacing they look and thought it's not about how strong the walls are but how they look.
If I come up against a base I automatically skip it (I have level 5 troops) because in my head, I think the base is strong.
I was wondering, does anyone agree or do you think they should be leveled up for defence?

Walls can be a mental deterrent against attacks. Who would you attack a guy with maxed defenses and gold walls or maxed defenses and skulls. Probably the gold walls. At least i would cause it looks easier.

too much gold: helps to show off that you're part of the 1% that knows how to play this game.

after wall lvl7 there's not much use to upgrade the walls anymore

IMO, after lvl 8,walls are usefull to drain your extra gold and to afraid your opponents. That's all.

Level 10 walls take three max wall breakers to bust instead of two, 50% more. If you're not playing at the top end of the game (and I hardly ever did before clan wars) then that probably doesn't matter. But I'd much rather attack someone with level 9 walls than level 10.

Walls show patience and skill. Also they are very intimidating.

Above level 7 is primarily to give the attacker second thoughts before attacking.

Once you reach level 10 and 11 walls it can actually help you defend. It won't keep players with maxed troops and heroes from 2 starring you but it will keep them from 3 starring you. That's the main purpose in the end.

They can be helpful at times. I've noticed a payoff with them. ;)

Plus you can only spend so much gold on defenses and defenses take so long y'know. Might as well upgrade walls in between rather than sitting on loot.

It's not very important to upgrade walls, because they can be easily broken with wall breakers no matter what level they are.

Walls are very important imo because when i barch they gotta break through walls if im farming. Also for GOWIWI the golems and skeletons gotta break through your more centeralized walls. Giant healer also needs to break through walls, so the higher the level the longer it takes for them to level

If your attacker has hogs, walls are pointless. But, walls are a deterrent to many attackers.

Walls also help in those final seconds where the enemy troops are trying to get through your wall... The more hit points in the wall, the longer it will take them to get through.

Cause walls look awesome, if you have level 8 walls and level 1 defenses then you still won't be attacked by 60% of players just cause the skip the base as soon as they see the strong walls.

Place to put your gold when you have no other use for it.

Why play the game?

It looks cool, and it's fun.

Yeah even when I'm using balloonion a base with max defenses and level 1 walls looks so much easier than a base with level 11 walls and TH5 defenses. (Never seen any of those, but you understand my point)

Only reason I upgrade my walls is because they look cool...

While you are correct they can be broken by wall breakers the ease of breaking them increases dramatically at lvl9+.

Few things give me more pleasure than watching giants or other troops bash away at my skullies while my towers, teslas and xbows decimate the ranks. Yeah, walls are silly.

Mine are level 7 currently. I really want level 8 badly. Just not badly to put the defenses on the back burner. No defenses were being upgraded until I farmed enough to get the lvl 7 walls. Now. I'm trying to get my teslas maxed, wiz towers to lvl 7 and all my cannons and archer towers to level 11 at least. Whoa....I've come a long way; but, I'm still so far from getting my walls to lvl 8 :( Holy....I just did the math. upgrading all my wall will cost $125,000,000. I guess I shouldn't look at it that way. Too overwhelming

Good walls are crucial, they act as a force field :o Literally.

I'm a premie 9, and I am focusing hard on getting walls to 7 (I moved up with all lvl 6). I am currently farming in g2 and have noticed a significant drop off in attackers the more Lvl7 pieces I get. Two nights in a row with no shield, or attacks over 10%. For me I mix it up and go for like 10 or 20 wall pieces at a time as a priority, then save for a big upgrade, then back to walls. The whole time I am brining my new defenses up to the same level as the ones I brought with me from TH8. So my builders are always busy, and the walls, defenses, and lack of available gold for attackers keeps me safe-ish.

The are a cool looking ACTUAL defense item. Upgrade em!

Upgrading walls are life! The stronger they are the more annoying they are to your opponents! Plus, the higher levels tend to look more badass.

Ehhhh, enjoy the game however you want, but level 7 walls are good enough. (not really :cool:)

Walls are important but you must know how to use them . If you have th9 you should upgrade all walls to level 7 , at max th9 you could start walls to level 8 when you are waiting for th 10 to be done . When th 10 is done you should immediatly stop upgrading walls and build and upgrade defense and when you max th10 start walls ! They are so expensive because supercell know that maxing walls takes for ever so that top players wont be boring by playing clash of clans !

It's true walls can be destroyed. But it'll take longer to happen if you have high level walls. I currently have 4 builders maxing my hidden teslas and 1 builder leveling my walls to 9. It gives me something to do while I wait for my upgrades to finish. Plus I don't want to hold onto all that gold just to basically give it away when I get attacked.

U could put excess gold into walls, which i did most of the time when i was lower lvl.
Lvl 11 isnt a must, it's just an option of whether u want to challenge yourself to farm it or not.

Lol, try using wbs on lvl 11 walls, still tough to get through...

I too, have maxed level 8 walls and twenty or so lvl 9 walls. I much prefer maxing out my base first, then leave walls for last. I have about 60 days of research and defences left, which means I can solely work on walls and heroes afterwards. Wont have to worry about defending gold storages and a mediocre defence for elixir storages :)

With hogs walls are pointless.

Just had a guy revenge me for 43 trophies and 320k resources each because he used 28 lvl 3 hogs.

Know how long it takes me to get 43 trophies? A long freakin' time is how long.

Isn't this kind of dumb though? The whole point of the game is to build a base which can DEFEAT other players, but if none attack you then you're really not playing the whole game.

@OP: I think walls are meant to intimidate and it's a good showoff for people who would like the world to know they invest a lot of their time and skill into the game.

how many people on this thread already had experience on champion?
only those guys know how walls are important....

i've lost count of how many people i have seen with 40 hogs failing in champion
those guys who says walls are pointless against hogs , dont know shiet lol

aint gunna argue about that but

walls matters when you are pushing for trophies

the more tough walls are the more time you gonna spend killing it while defense building gonna kill your army
you need at least 3 wallbreakers to destroy 1 maxed wall , most champion uses 21 wallbreakers that means you gonna destroy only 7 walls inside enemy map , thats if yours wallbreakers dont get killed ♥♥♥♥

Of course they are.

- The added wb's required to break through higher levels, & the simple fact that the further you progress into a a base the less likely WB are gonna be able to come to your aid. A few 1000 extra HP is a lot for regular troops to take out compared to lower level walls.

I think lvl 8 walls are the most intimidating. Not legos, zaps, or technos.

Also, Its legos lvl9, Lavas lvl10, and zaps lvl 11, I havent seen anyone call lvl 10 zaps, and 11 technos?

I don't have much else to do apart from walls, heroes and some archers towers/cannons ( yay.. )

Walls are fun, they look good, and show how much you farm ;) keep going at them.

You already answer your question.

they are the least important mathematically yet I do them first at every th while I do troop upgrades for the psychological defence.

I also rocked fake teslas at th7.

To conclude. Higher lever walls work as a brilliant deterrent.
Of course wallbreakers can send your walls packing but once all the breakers have been used your then left with standard troops which in many cases can take quite a While to break through.

Me personally, I'm currently upgrading my walls to lvl 7 from lvl 6 and the main reason for it.. Its not for defense or even to scare off attackers. Its coz i hate the damn color of lvl6 walls lol!

Because my ocd cant handle rainbow walls.. btw they look sexy do they not?;)

Personally, I just upgraded my walls because I favor to max all defensive structures until my TH level refrains me from doing that.
With TH8 I upgraded about 100 of my lvl7 walls to lvl8 while upgrading other stuff (dumping my extra gold). The last 125 walls were left to do while my TH was upgrading to lvl9.. it was a tough thing to do, getting ready only 1 day before the upgrade finished. Still, it was quiet satisfying to have been able to farm all that gold.

They make your base look scary Rawr.
