1) what kind of clasher is your friend?
2) does he rely on collector raids?
When I made the move to TH9 I was verrrrry preemie, had maxed out TH7 before going to TH8, but then got to TH8 and it absolutely sucked(constant TH9/TH10 base attacks/3-star wipes, junk L5 attack troops not capable of hauling in the loot against other TH8/TH9 competition, too few defensive structures, no archer queen, etc, etc, etc, etc).
Jumped immediately to TH9, upgraded the lab/troops/camps right away, and found my home.
MUCH better gaming experience all the way around even at that extremely early point, and it only gets better as your superior farming hauls lead to faster upgrades and the base just gets stronger and stronger and stronger by the day. DE by the ton, endless gold and elixir, etc.
Love it, anyone who says you "must" linger at TH8 while getting crushed for months and trying to scrape up the loose DE from behind the couch cushions is a fool.
In my humble opinion, you should do what makes playing the game more enjoyable for you as that is why the majority of people play CoC...for enjoyment. In most cases, however, it makes progression harder when going to TH9 prematurely as a lot here have said. Good luck to you whichever route you choose though. Cheers!
How do you plan to dump your gold on walls each night and still have enough for upgrades? Are you going to play all day, use up all your builders then wait till you have a free builder before farming again. This would result in so much lost farming time. If your plan for not losing gold is to not have any then that is a bad strategy.
As for upgrading early, it's whatever you want to do.
How do you plan to dump your gold on walls each night and still have enough for upgrades?
-play all day...and with school coming to a close, I will have MUCH MUCH more activity and will grab as much gold as I can and then upgrade with what I have (low on gold - traps or my premie def; full on gold - wt or dump on walls)
Also, I plan to stay on for 6+ hours straight :)...even if it means having to eat with my device or going to the restroom with it
exactly
i plan to make my coc career as short as possible :P
It's your game and I'm not going to talk anybody into or out of their choices.
Bear in mind that it's not negative in itself to prematurely go to another TH level. Remember that at some point you will have to make upgrades. So at TH9 all of those upgrades that you skipped at TH7 are easy and keep your builders busy. Then you get to TH8 upgrades. These are still easy and inexpensive. Builders busy again.
Here's the kicker: if you are an active gamer much of this doesn't make much difference. If you're semi-active like me you have a rush to acquire resources as builders become available.
If your goal is to be the best player in your league/clan/state go for it. If you're looking long haul and want to be the best overall you'd be wise to pace it. Personal rewards for upgrading for example become very rare if you rush.
The longer you wait for TH upgrades the more you're rewarded with time.
You can make all the arguments you want for moving ahead quickly. But have you EVER heard someone who has waited to upgrade say they should have upgraded TH earlier?
And you will find a large field of players who have upgraded too early and have become inactive. It depends largely on you but I'd say it's not a good strategy to move too quickly. I'm sure SC can tell you that most inactive accounts are early TH9's or TH10's
what do you mean there is no loot penalty at TH9 ?
The penalty is that you can no longer raid TH7 bases.
When you are a TH8, your main sponsors are the TH7 bases. You can only get about 60% from those bases when you are TH9 compared to TH8. Due to the loot penalty that you don't want to discuss.
I have seen that every time when going to the next TH level. Recently became TH10 (from a maxed out TH9). When I see a TH8 base now with 175k available gold, I know I could get see 315k available if I would have still been a TH9. My mouth keeps on watering when that happens, but I have to endure being a TH10 now, and focus on raiding TH9 bases.
There is simply no point in rushing. Lvl 6 archers do 22 dps, as opposed to 20 dps for a lvl 5 archer. Who cares.
Now you try to persuade us why you are in a rush?
lol

Like I said, there's no loot penalty in g2-g1 as there aren't as many TH7's. The sensible thing to do is to fill your elixir storages and spend them to improve your offense.
Now, who said I was rushing to TH10? That's a completely different story and utter foolishness to rush to TH10. Who said lvl6 archers were the reason I upgraded? Sure, they're a lvl6 troop, but they're not the reason I'm upgrading. What kind of bullcrap are you trying to pull?
Lvl6 giants + balloons are the ones who get the boost and the ones who are worth upgrading (if you use them) Besides, I usually raid TH8 for gold/elixir and occasionally TH9 for DE. I rarely see TH7 in my range and I mostly storage raid.
