Tourist expansion
Bear with me, this is a complex idea that won't be clear until I get it all down.
Here in Michigan, it is common for larger farms to have tourist aspects. It occurs to me we could expand such on our farms. Attendance would be based on number of likes each farm has, and the level of amenities offered at the beach. This would be the new twist to the game. Of course, tourists don't come to run down or unattractive places. to increase appeal, a beach area would be added. They would pay vouchers, gold and the occasional diamond to enjoy the natural beauty and fresh foods.
Access
A trail would run across the bluff to waterfront for tourists. This access would be improved upon over time as one of the growth potentials. We farmers would access via a farm cart (developed like boat or mine opening) It would be pulled by draft horses, purchased with vouchers.
Horses would have downtime, so you could not access the beach area anytime you wish. It would need to be planned, and you would be limited as to how many sale items you could take there to sell.
Beach Enterprise
Eventually the beach could be developed to include four "shops" in which particular tourist merchandise would be sold, this would include a drink shop, food and souveniers. Items sold would include current production items as follows:
Grill
Hamburgers
fishburgers
hotdogs (added)
Ice Cream Maker
all items
Salad Bar
I assume all items, but not at that level
Smoothie Mixer
Again, assume all items
Loom
Purple Beach blankets (added), using blackberries for color. We need more purple
Weaver (new machine), using wheat (straw) and dye items
Fans
beach flip flops
Colored hats, two varieties
beach bags
Soda Fountain (new machine)
Lemonade
Cola
Cherry Cola
Bottled Water (default like worms in fishing)
Coffee Kiosk
Iced Coffees (added)
Jewelry Maker
ankle bracelets (one silver)
toe rings (one silver)
shell necklaces (one silver and one shell)
Candy Machine
all items
Sandwich Bar
all items
Items developed specifically for beach would sell in RSS, but not be part of truck or boat orders
Land Development Process
area would start with empty beach and foot path. Development process as follows:
- Two track road (potential for increased traffic increases as road is improved)
- gravel road
- Paved road
- Two increases in beach size, which would also increase tourist traffic
- Souvenir Shop (which is accessible when land is developed and the building needs renovation like lobster pot)
- Drink Stand (same as above)
- Food Concession (same again)
- Sweet Shoppe (same)
- Outhouses, which increase tourist traffic
Selling and Transport of Merchandise
To sell items to tourists, they need to get there. The shops are not just down the driveway. Access is via cart and horse. You can purchase up to three draft horses, who take turns pulling the cart. Each horse needs seven hours of downtime before it can take another load. The cart is set up with bins like the RSS. You load from your barn. Once shops are developed, each shop will have the same number of bins as the cart, thus you can stock each up to three times daily if you have all horses. These are work horses, not pets. If you take a load of drinks, arrive at the beach, and you've sold nothing from your drink stand, you lose the merchandise you brought. It will simply go bad in the time needed to return it to the barn. Merchandise sells at the beach for maximum price, however, so motivation is high to plan well.
Trash
You also need to remove the trash from your beach area. Take it back to the farm and use the burn barrel. Don't let it build up as you can only take so much back in your cart on each trip. However, like everybody knows, tourists are constantly forgetting things. Not only will you find trash as you clean up, but wallets with gold, jewelry, the occasional forgotten diamond, lost beach blanket(and other manufactured items that can be resold) and shells. As noted, shells are used to make additional jewelry for tourists. Not removing trash will decrease attendance to the beach over time and completely in 24 hours. This keeps beach from being a voucher/gold/diamond generating machine unless you maintain it.
Conclusion
The implications seem clear to me, but probably because I spent hours thinking about it. Strategy would need to be developed about transporting goods. The optimal development sequence unclear until the forum obsessives started to study it. People will be encouraged to beautify their farm if they are interested in this aspect of the game. The beach could be developed so it too could be decorated with a whole new array of items. Underutilized machines, such asthe jewelry maker, smoothies and coffee kiosk would enjoy some revitalization. And of course, we would need a second sugar mill to keep up with producing all the high calorie tourist items. Perhaps the tourists would occasionally stop at the RSS to buy outrageously overpriced items that are collecting dust on the shelf?
Obviously, I've spent way too much time thinking about Hay Day on the commute to work.

I like the idea of using blackberries and wool to make purple blankets.

What a great idea!
Wow! I love it! It sounds beautiful, you have put a lot of thought into it, and i can really visualize it.
It's a dream, and I really hope it comes true. I often look at farms when rssing to look for ideas and compare, etc. I often winder why some fairly high level farms are barren. Yuck!
P.s. Purple is my favorite color. We definitely need more.
